1940: Moved to Chicago with his family. Performed regularly on Maxwell Street singing both blues and religious songs.

Early 1960s: performed at blues and folk festivals; a regular performer at the "No Exit Cafe" into the early '70s.

1970: appeared in the documentary film "Blues Like Showers of Rain"

Performed until his death in 1988
