What does it mean when we say that someone has a "great soul" or that a mature and generous child has an "old soul"? Does the soul exist as something more than a metaphor? If willing to entertain this as a possibility, how might one confirm the existence and characteristics of the soul through direct personal investigation? In this group we consider these questions and others, such as whether and how the soul might grow and change. The most famous exemplar of this view was Gurdjieff, who famously asserted that we begin only with the blueprint of a soul, and must create a soul through right-directed intentional effort. Having completed the Second Series of All and Everything - Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson - this month we begin the Third Series - otherwise known as Life is Real Only Then, When I Am. No prior experience with reading Gurdjieff required.Rob Schmidt and Stuart Goodnick have studied Gurdjieff's work for many years. The Tayu tradition in they teach employs several Gurdjieffian practices as fundamental to Tayu practice. Tayu Meditation Center owns and runs and runs Many Rivers Books & Tea.
