I always had a performance fantasy: A stage, a black grand piano, and me in a long black dress under a spotlight singing five or six soulful, sensual, delightful songs to my friends and family. The only obstacle was that I didn't sing outside the confines of my shower! My first day of studying with Pilar broke open a flood of desire for self- expression that this fantasy had merely tapped. Three years later, I fulfilled the deeper desire of that vision: a birthday performance for 100 loved ones, singing 17 songs that expressed many parts of a reclaimed soul.
