APGR72 Week 2 Reading and Homework

On this page you'll find all the homework for a specific week. For an overview of homework for the entire course, please check the "calendar" page. Reading assignments are an important part of the week's study so please make sure you complete them. The weekly quiz may well contain questions based on the week's reading assignments.

Some homework assignments require you to fill out an online form. I advise you to write your assignment in a word processing program and save the file on your computer. Then copy and paste your assignment into the online form. Other assignments may need to be uploaded to your homework site. Once you have uploaded your assignment, please send me an e-mail to tell me you have completed it along with the direct URL to the assignment page.

Homework:

  CARP Project 1: Work on a preliminary layout for this project.
Read over the instructions for Mini Project #1 and produce a preliminary computer layout in Photoshop saved as a JPEG (see specific instructions on the Project 1 page). Please upload your assignment to your homework web site. Link the assignment page to the homework index page. Then send me an e-mail with the subject line: APGR72 Project 1 Preliminary Layout and provide the DIRECT URL to the assignment page. Due 9/4 by midnight.

Make specific reference to each of the following design principles and techniques from the Week 1 and 2 lecture pages. Organize your comments under the following HEADINGS and comment on how the Mudcat Blues Band page fails or succeeds to apply each of the principles and techniques. Make sure you address each individual principle/technique, e.g. alignment, repetition, contrast, proximity, hierarchy, focal point etc.

• Design Principles: Alignment, Repetition, Contrast, Proximity

• Design Techniques: Hierarchy, Focal Point, Eye Flow, White Space, Simplicity, Balance, Consistency, Unity/Gestalt, Appropriateness and Originality.

Maximum points will be awarded for a clear and organized critique.
