Who are we?
North Bay Wanderwomen is a loosely knit group of women, based in
Sonoma & Napa Counties who like to get together for hikes or
casual bike rides in the North Bay Area and San Francisco. We used
to be known as "Walkabout". Our events are free except
for the occasional park fees. Usually we go to regional or state
parks in Sonoma, Napa or Marin counties. Sometimes we walk in San
Francisco. Although we attract mostly gay and bisexual women, we
are open to all women.
What is the age group?
Most of us are in our 30's, 40's and 50's. We also get some women
younger and older than that as well.
Is this a "gay" group?
Although we attract mostly gay and bisexual women, we are open
to all women.

Can men come along?
Sorry, this group is for women only.
How many people are on the walks?
It varies from 3 or 4 to over 10.

What type of walks are they?
It varies. Some walks are strenuous, some very easy. They range
from a few miles to 5 or more! It just depends on the person who
is leading the walk. We try to give an indication of the difficulty
of a walk in the description. However, if you need better information
than what is provided I recommend contacting the leader for that
particular walk.
How can I lead a walk?
Contact Sue at 254-9218.
Can I bring my dog(s)?
This depends on the walk and the leader. Most places we go do not
allow dogs, some do. Sometimes we have walks that specifically say
that you can bring your dog. Contact the walk leader for the information
on that particular walk.
How about kids?
Most of our walks are not appropriate for young children. They are
usually too fast paced and long for a small child. There are some
events that may work okay, but in general I'd say leave the kids
at home. As always, check with the walk leader for specific information
on that particular walk or event.
Can you add me to your mailing list?
We have one that is used primarily to remind walk leaders about
print deadlines approaching. This web site has most of the up to
date information on it and it's updated regularly. Occasionally
last minute events are sent out to the mailing list that may not
make it onto the web site. If you want to be added to it please
email Sue with a request
and indicate what it is regarding. (this is my personal email).
(It is done by email only.)
Who can I contact with more questions?
You can contact Sue if you
have more questions about the group at 254-9218.
