NBWW: Tule Elk @ Tomales Pt. 10/15/00

Five sturdy souls trekked the seven mile hike at Tomales Point, Point Reyes National Seashore. It turned out to be a windless sunny day, perfect for the walk to the tip of the Point. We saw several herds of Tule Elk. There was a dominant bull in each group with his harem of 20 or more lady Elk. It was rutting season and you could tell by the attitude of the males. The less dominant and younger males seemed to hang out on the perimeter.

And here they go, crossing our path.

It's hard to see, but this guy's checking out the backside of one of his girlfriends..

Bye, bye, Tule Elk.
