Larkspur > Larkspur Gallery > 1982 Flood: The Bridge

January 4, 1982
I walked across the bridge over the creek at the corner of Magnolia and Madrone every single day I went to Larkspur-Corte Madera School
*, from kindergarten through eighth grade, in all kinds of weather. In winter, I'd usually pause to look over the wall and thrill at the sight of the violent rush of the brown, churning water just a few feet below, and wonder if it would ever get high enough to overflow. 22 years later, it did.

* I've spelled it out, because newer Larkspur residents, like the one I met at the city's 100th birthday party, apparently have no idea what "LCM" refers to.
