A Day
Feed prices are up and beef prices are down
Ranchin' ain't easy, but it beats being in town
Just this mornin' I was pullin' some new bob wire
Shortly after I had to change another flat tire
The tractor burned another drive shaft
Not the front this time, but the aft
The truck ain't no better, she blows black smoke
I gotta pop the hood just to get to the choke
I was fixin' some rails and busted my thumb
It still throbs and it looks like a plumb
The steers got out the open gate
To get 'em back I threw out some bait
The ranch hand well he's still in his bunk
'bout the time my dog's sprayed by a skunk
A valve's busted and the stock tank's overflowin'
My alergies are really kickin' cause the wind's a blowin
The colt got a good hump in his back
The good news was that he was easy to track
Cause in the wreck he tossed a shoe
Instead of four he now had two
A day of ranchin' can be lots of fun
In the rain, the snow, the mud and sun
You won't find me in town anytime soon
You can see there's plenty to do, all before noon
