A DIP'S A DIP
The time was right and the scene was set
For this lass' heart I would bet
In my throat my heart would thump
With every step my pulse did pump
I was to profess my love to her
For so many years my soul would stir
To touch that hand I only dreamed
To kiss those lips my head would steam
I only wanted to be totally forthright
I felt I needed to divulge what was not in sight
Things were not always so pleasant in the past
I wanted everything on the table, and make it fast
So before I could put on the brakes
I spilled it out, for heavens sake
I confessed that I like to dip
Especially after a beer, and not just a sip
Copenhagen is the kind I choose
It goes so well with any booze
I'll never admit it but it was a test
But her response was clearly the best
Now you need to know one thing
She had never even heard a cowboy sing
Until that moment she was city-fied
And in my gut, well, they was all tied
Her eyes kinda got a glaze
I don't think she'd heard such a thing in all her days
She thought a dip was a dance'n step
In my mind, that thought never crept
I reached in my pocket for the tin
I grabbed a pinch and tossed it in
That tobacca was in my lip
I looked sqaure at her and said "now that's a dip"
Now it's been many years
Thank god there ain't been many tears
Our love has always been just as open
She will even put my spit cup a soak'n
We do go out from time to time
Good country music is always the sign
Out on the floor her hand I grip
While keeping time, I offer a dip
