our apartment was near the dome des invalides.

we arrived in paris shortly before noon on a friday after an exhausting 11 hour flight from san francisco. it took nearly three hours to travel from the airport by shuttle to our apartment on rue duvivier. we rested a bit then went for a walk down to the esplanade des invalides and across pont alexandre iii. it was quite brisk out. we asked another couple to take our picture, but when it was developed the photo was ruined by a gash of light across the negative, probably due to our cheap camera.
after crossing pont alexandre iii we strolled down the right bank of the seine past the grand palais and crossed back to the left bank on the pont des invalides. we wandered back to our neighborhood and explored rue cler. we bought postcards and a phone card at a tabac shop, flowers at a flower shop, cheese at a fromagerie, stamped envelopes at a post office, bread and cookies at a bakery, fruit at a produce stand and juice from a small super market. we delivered our goods to our apartment a block away, then we returned to rue cler to eat dinner at a sidewalk cafe.
