homework due this week

Delivering the Site
This week you begin to cut the cord and develop a plan to deliver the product to the client. Issues you will need to discuss include:
  1. Where will the site be stored? The site needs to be at the client's Web site when we do the final presentation in December.
  2. I recommend you load the site and have the client watch as you move it. If they are fairly technical they can help you move the files.
  3. Provide the client with a copy of following items on a disc or CD.
    1. Web pages and Web images
    2. PSD source files
    3. Project site
    4. Client Manual
    5. View Examples of Client Manuals
  4. Provide instructor with a copy of following items on a disc or CD.
    1. Web pages and Web images
    2. PSD source files
    3. Project site
    4. Client Manual
  5. This is a good time to view the list of deliverables and make sure you have provided most of them.
  6. Who will be responsible for updating the information?
  7. Is training a part of the project? If so set up a time to deliver the training.
  8. Try and provide an estimate to the client for the amount of time that will be required to maintain the site. Also if the relationship has been a positive experience you may want to leave your business cards in case they decide to hire someone to provide web services later on.
  9. Return any materials which the client provided (photos brochures, discs, etc.)
  10. Ask the client to fill out the student evaluation form which I will be sending them in an email message. Make sure I have the correct email address for your client. I will be referring to project sites for that information.
  11. If you are working for a JC client send them to this web page which explains how the site can be moved to it's permanent location on the main JC server.

We will be practicing the presentation during class time. Please prepare what you plan to say during the presentation.

Here is an overview of what happens during the final presentation.

One team member bookmarks the site before presentation begins.

W e present in the order shown in the program (coming soon)

    Each group has 10-15 minutes

PM introduces group and project - explains their job and the site goals (strategic brief may help)

Designer explains rationale for look and feel of site (creative brief may help)

Programmer explains programs and shows any relevant pages (technical brief may help)

CDs explain their job, how they built the pages

Each person explains what they learned from the team experience

Team needs to decide on what pages are shown, as well as who is the person who sits and shows the pages as various folks talk. A typical scenario is for the CD to sit and access the pages until it is their turn to talk at which point another team member will sit and click on pages. If during the presentation there is some confusion about what pages would be displayed the presenter can simply ask for a certain page to be accessed

You may want to review the comments of former students before you prepare you remarks
