Conditions of Testing

The conditions were both in production settings and on computers at the Sonoma County Library and Kinko's. Being in a public place where standard computers were present was the goal.

Factors of Testing

The factors involved the text size, color and speed of loading on different modems. I tested using 800x600 mostly because that is still about 50% of internet users.

1.
Mac OS 8.6
The pages loaded really well and looked very good. The text was a little hard to read in places, especially the italics and bottom links. But all the graphics loaded. The home page ink figures imageswap had a slight delay when during the mouseovers. But all looked pretty good.
2.
Windows 2000 Pro
All was very good! This one looked the best overall. No problems and easy to read.
3.
Windows 98
This was the slowest download with just a 44k connection, but it still loaded within 10 seconds. Both browsers worked pretty well and the text had a slightly different color look than the others (a brighter redish than the others). The site still looked great and easy to read and follow.
4.
Mac 9.1
This one worked and looked very good. The dither on the background was much more blurry than the Windows machines were, and it gave it a softer feel.
5.
Linux
All was fine and the Oprah browser showed very little difference than the others. No issues.

Summary

The testing went very well and no glaring issues were seen. The only real difference was viewing it in the older Netscape browsers. In this case the browser loaded the images much differently and the CSS responded for a slightly different look in the text.

Changes

No changes were really needed. It was really just a matter of choice, like the italics being changed etc. But the site looked very much the same on all computers and browsers.

Report Conclusion

A good report to do, but the results showed that the design was precise and cross compatible.

Hey....lets go live!
