| Questions |
| What did you think of the splash page? |
| Excellent! It makes you want to keep refreshing the page to watch the flower grow.
Very nice, and friendly, environmental impression. Friendly and inviting. Very colorful, nice use of colors. The animation of the plant was very original. Happy - Colorful - Crisp - Child-like ...and was pleased that the animation wasn't looped. Great for a kids intro page.. hits the target market well. Pretty. |
| What did you think of the home page? |
| Also really nice.
It was a site for kids. Clean easily digested. Once again, I liked the color, although the right hand side and bottom part of the screen were all white, very empty. (User has a 19" monitor) Very impressed. Nice This is such a cute site. I love it already. |
| Were did you first click? |
| The Kid's Page. [2 responses]
Our Garden. [2 resonses] Top button. About Us. On the sunflower, but then I went to "About Us" |
| Did you find the site easy to navigate? |
| Very. [3 reponses]
Yes. [2 responses] Very smooth. I found no problem understanding the navigation. |
| Were the pages interesting? Why or why not? |
| Gardening is an inviting subject to start with, and the visual presentation couldn't have been better.
Yes, offers knowledge to the visitors. Good mix of graphics and text. I felt that the photos were the most interesting part of the site. Good variety of photos. Yes, Most were chock-full of quality content. YES, I read the about us page and it had some good information. Definitely. |
| Are the pages age specific? Do you think the site provides interest to kids and adults? |
| Yes. [2 respnses]
Definitely something for all ages, and I kept thinking how excited the kids involved in this project must be to see their pictures and their art online. Very engaging, as well as informative. Certainly for adults, you would have to ask the kids for their assessment. Since you have photos on every page, I think both kids and adults would find this site interesting. Yes, 4 to 104. Yes, but to me it seems that most of the content is geared towards adults.. except for the kid's page. |
Did you find what you expected from the pages? |
| Yes. [3 responses]
More. Did not have any expectations. They seemed to make sense. Yes but I would like to see some text on the kids page for the kids. |
| What did you like best about the site? |
| I really liked the colors, the flower on the splash, the kids' art, the crystal-clear photos, and the child-like appeal of the site.
The pictures. Bright, cherry, easy to access. Once again, I thought the pictures were the best addition to the site. They make it much more compelling to continue searching through the site, since you don't know what you will see next. The entire package. There was always something of interest. I was never lost. It is great to see so much terrific content. The friendly design... The photos, descriptions, and images. |
| What suggestions for improvement do you have? |
| None. [2 responses]
The links page was a bit stretched out horizontally, including the nav bar at the top. Liked the animatimated sunflower, but thought the sophistication of that drawing contradicted the more "primitive" childlike quality of: sun-cloud moon. Maybe come up with some sort of color scheme to fill in the white area on the bottom and right hand side of the screen. The kid in me waited more from Kid's Page. Make the thumb nails smaller.. so that they load faster and so when more art gets add you can have more one page without scrolling forever.... |
| Could you find how and/or what to donate in the way of time or materials? Describe how you found this item. |
| Clicked on the Get Involved link. [2 responses]
Click get involved, and contact Laurel Anderson. Don't have a clue to what your referring , did not encounter any solicitation for donations. I believe it was the link at the bottom that read "Get Involved". This link did not seem to obvious at first. It does not stand out too well. Maybe if it was on the left hand navigation frame. No response. [2] |
| Did you see any images missing? If so on what page? |
| No. 5 responses
"Cameron's Worm" and ""Kyle's Worm" were broken on Kid's Page. There are two images that don't work on the Kids page. |
| Regarding download time of each page? Did any pages take an aggravating long time to load? If so, which ones? |
| No. [4 reponses]
I thought the pages loaded very quickly, considering the number of images throughout. It was zip-zip-zip because I'm using the G-4's here at the lab. I opened our site at home on a friend's laptop and was embarrassed at how long it took to downdload. All your pages seemed to load fine, and at a good rate of speed. None seemed to take an agravating amount of time. |
| Did you find any links not working? If so which link and on what page? What was the error message received? |
| No. [7 responses]

| Please give 3 words to describe the site. |
| Appealing, engaging, colorful.
Friendly, nice, interesting. Kids, plants, life. Colorful, interesting, and fun. Happy - Chock-full - Crisp (I hope that the sharpness comes across as well on the darker pc.) Airy, Light, Fun. Adorable, Interesting, and Fun. |
| Do you have any suggestions or comments? |
| No.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this site a 20. I am that impressed. Needs more puppies and kittens. Maybe just do something about all of the white area, that I mentioned above. But other then that, good job. I liked it. Congratulations! No.. I think that the site is very nice. Well done Harmony Group. |
| Summary |
| We are pleased with the results. We have already corrected the problems that respondents indicated such as the missing images. A great deal of interest was created by the Kid's Page. Denise Getz came up with the idea and many of the respondents would like to see it carried further. I think it would be a good idea to make the thumbnails smaller in the art gallery to make room for more art and more of the written work of the children. I intentionally did not use photo edge effects on this page so that it would be easier for the future developers to modify the page. Our concern at present is to add a few more photographs of larger size and clean up the code to spruce up the pages. |
