SRJC Web Development Program Final Presentations Fall 2001
Psyche Clark: psyche@sonic.net, (707)575-7086 Employment Objective: I would enjoy working in a team setting as the project manager. Skills: I excel at maintaining a positive working environment while getting the job done. I have also completed my design certificate and plan to continue with management and programming classes Courses: Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver , Flash, Principles of screen design, Html , Beg and Advanced web graphics, Business of web design, Graphic concepts, Telecommunications, Business administration and Philosophy, Project Role: I over saw the redesign of the OADS site. I scheduled the meeting. I ensured that the mission statement and the target audience were a consistent theme during the project. I kept the project on schedule while reassuring both our team and our client that the project would be on time and fulfill the deliverables. My most important role was to set the mood. Maintaining a confidant and calm working environment allowed my team to relax and get things done. What I learned from the project: I have learned to listen to the people I work with. We are a social animal and need to both talk and be heard. I found that when we had a problem if I listened to my team mates while keeping the conversation on topic we were able to solve very daunting problems with minimal stress.
Jeni Fiske: jeni_art@yahoo.com, 707-762-5184 Employment Objective: I am looking for a position where I can use a wide variety of my computer and software skills. Skills: I have a wide base of skills including, computer, office, graphic design, web design, and customer service. I am detail oriented, learn new applications quickly, and thoroughly enjoy both learning and assisting others. Courses: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe Photoshop, ImageReady, Illustrator, PageMaker, Dreamweaver, Flash, QuarkXPress, QuickBooks, business English, business math, 10-key, filing, plus a variety of art and graphic design classes. I have completed SRJCâs Computerized Office, Account Clerk, Photoshop, and Web Graphic Design certificates. Project Role: As designer I used information provided by the client to develop a new look for their site. I scanned the photos and prepared them for use; created the collages, headings, and rollovers; wrote specifications for the appearance of all text; created the templates; and assisted the content developer with troubleshooting and proof reading. What I learned from the project: The importance of establishing a file naming strategy at the beginning of a project. I gained an appreciation for the great amount of time, work, and coordination involved in developing a Web site. I also got to practice listening, asking for feedback, and creating based on other peopleâs vision.
Heidi Jorgensen: hjorgensen@hjorgensen.com, 707-823-6338 Employment Objective: Web Production and Coding Specialist internship or entry level position contributing skills to production of dynamic sites and enhancing team. Skills: Programming/Scripting languages known are JavaScript, Active Server Pages, Perl, HTML and Java. Database systems worked with are Access, SQL and VBA scripting. Have a B.A. in Mathematics and teaching experience. Have experience in supervision at a hi-tech company. Have good people skills and enjoy working in team environment. Courses: * Programming/Scripts: JavaScript, ASP (with VBScript), Perl/CGI, Java, HTML, C++ * Applications/Database: Microsoft Access with VBA, SQL, Adobe Photoshop * Operating Systems: Unix, (Windows 98 & DOS -- OTJT) * Other: Business of Web Design, Telecommunications, Electronic Portfolio Project Role: As programmer for two sites, I developed a Perl Script for error checking and confirmation of a form and three small JavaScript codes. Other tasks included research for client programming needs, creation of the technical brief, testing sites in multiple usage environments and developing sections of the client manual. What I learned from the project: I gained an enormous amount of knowledge about the intricacies of the Internet. I obtained a working knowledge of the main programming languages on the Web. I am able to produce web pages! I understand why web sites are so expensive. I discovered the importance of communication between team members. Brian Cain: bcain@vom.com, 707-996-7861 Employment Objective: I am seeking a position where I can enthusiastically implement my technical, software, and design skills to add value to operations. Skills: PC&Mac, HTML, CSS, FTP, certified Photoshop expert, ImageReady, Illustrator 9, Flash5, Dreamweaver4, GoLive, PageMaker6.5, BBedit, Painter. I'm a highly organized & motivated quick learner who is easy to work with. Courses: Beg. & Adv. HTML; Beg. & Adv. Web Graphics; Beg.&Inter. Illustrator 9; Beg.,Inter.,& Adv. Photoshop; Beg. & Inter. Flash5; Intro to Telecommunications; painter6, Business of Graphic design, Principles of screen design, Computer Graphics concepts. Currently taking Web Content Development to finish my certificates in: Dreamweaver Content Developer Mastery, GoLive Content Developer Mastery, & HTML Content Developer Mastery. Project Role: As content developer I combined the content (text and pictures) with the design (the page templates). I created the storyboard, production standards, and shell site. I also oversaw the classmate testing phase and worked out the kinks in the site. What I learned from the project: Procrastination is a bad thing. I learned all about working with a team and having people rely on me to do my best. I learned how to write effective cascading style sheets, and how to efficiently deal with many nested tables. I also learned not to trust Dreamweaver's code writing ability at all. Mostly I learned to respect the amount of time and effort that goes into a large, quality web site.
