Susan Snow: susan@sonic.net, 823-1635

Employment Objective: I am retired and no longer seeking "employment.." However, if a project comes along that has importance or meaning to me personally, I will take it on.

Skills: I was excited to be able to work on the web site for Health Care for All—California. I hope this eventually brings about a higher quality, more just health care system for all of you. I think I have gained lots of skills throughout my lifetime that can make a small increment of difference. Maybe this web site will make a little difference.

Courses: Oh my gosh. You don't want to know. I am a perpetual student and habitual worker.

Project Role: My role was Project Manager. I had hoped to coordinate all the talents of the team to create one of the best "activist" web sites currently on the world wide web. I do think we almost got there. I believe this web site positions HCA-CA well for the coming year when the health care system becomes a very big political issue.

What I learned from the project: I think the course title says it in a nutshell--the business of web design. I now know how projects that utilize a team approach are typically structured. The final product, the web site itself, is but the proverbial tip of the iceberg. About 90% of the project lies buried and is the unseen work that supports the final product.

Marcy McNeil: m4m@att.net, 707-535-0925

Employment Objective: I would like to become a full-time freelance web designer, and have been building my portfolio...www.marcymcneil.com...one project at a time. However, there are some part-time employment opportunities that I'm tempted to pursue as I build my body of work.

Skills: Web graphic design, mastery of aesthetic concepts and reader-friendly page layout, HTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustator, content development, writing, editing and research. Interactive Javascript flyout, or "dropdown" menus.

Courses: Beginning and advanced HTML, Advanced Photoshop with certificate completion, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Web Graphic Design, Principles of Screen Design, Introduction to Telecommunications, Web Content Practicum and Business of Web Design.

Project Role: I was the designer, having created a new logo and new look for the Health Care for All California site.

What I learned from the project: I learned to expect the unexpected. I also learned other life lessons that bear repeating: things are not always what they seem, trust my instincts, and it's better to express concerns sooner than later, even if they seem silly. I also emerged with a new skill to meet the client's wish for javascript menus.

Gary V. Grutkowski: gary@grutkowski.com, 707.823.8100

Employment Objective: Web Design and Development: Seeking to develop, design and deliver a Web site that will position your company on the World Wide Web which will increase your dollar volume and sales potential in the real estate industry.

Skills: Strong development and designs skills with a strong knowledge of image manipulation Web site generation tools and search engine optimization along with being proficient in Html, Photoshop and Dreamweaver both on the Mac and Windows platforms.

Courses: Html 1 and 2, Intro to Telecommunications, Adobe Photoshop A and B, Principles of Screen Design, Web Graphics A and B, Electronic Portfolio, Dreamweaver A and B, and Web Content Practicum (in progress).

Project Role: As a content developer, my responsibilities included creating a storyboard, shell site and coordinated class test results along with inserting images, aligning data and developing the content and feel of the individual pages. It also included making changes when necessary and completely checking the site prior to uploading.

What I learned from the project: In a previous assignment I said that communications is “key.” It is still true today. Without communication among team members, it is an uphill battle to accomplish anything. In addition, this class allowed me to understand the web site development process from start to finish and work with my team members in a positive manner.

Nancy Buchanan: nancyfbd@aol.com, unlisted

Employment Objective: To ultimately work within the Wine Industry as inhouse Graphic and Web Designer.

Skills: I have a Graphic Arts Degree from SRJC and I am currently working in that field. I have strong Design, Illustrator and Photoshop skills that can be utilized in both Print and Web Design.

Courses: In addition to all the Graphic Art courses, I have taken the following Web Classes: HTML, Web graphics, Dreamweaver, and Web Content Practium.

Project Role: I was one of the Content Developers on the site. This included developing a calendar for the site in Dreamweaver. I was also involved in the production of the legal documents by writing the Deliverables and the Production Standards for the site.

What I learned from the project: I learned just how much time and effort goes into Web development, including the time spent in planning and contracting for the job. I learned that good communication can be the key to working on a team and producing the best product possible. We worked well together and are proud of the results.
