Ray Botelho: rbot@pacbell.net, 707-539-9009

Employment Objective: Something challenging, interesting and fun. In an ideal world, it would involve electronics, software, video, rich media and the web.

Skills: Long career in technical software and micro-circuit hardware development for major electronic instrument manufacturer; created automated test/manufacturing software and embedded-controller firmware in RF & microwave test/measurement instruments. Lifelong still photographer, processor and printer. Also a skilled videographer/editor of 15 years; currently contracting with a professional wedding and event videography company.

Courses: Hard-Knocks Academy of Dreamweaver, Flash and Photoshop & I read many help file entries and whiz-bang web sites However, thanks to my job being shipped to Malaysia, I have had the opportunity to pursue the SRJC ASP Certificate, taking classes such as Active Server Pages, Web Content Development, C++, HTML, Telecom and Electronic Portfolio, with more to come.

Project Role: I had a dual role as Content Developer and Programmer. As CD, I created pages, some of the Flash animation, the client manual, and will also provide the handoff training. As Programmer, I created the survey forms and integrated them with, and configured a PHP script named "Phorm", which allows both E-mailing and file logging of form data. I also documented the process for downloading the data into a local database or spreadsheet.

What I learned from the project: In my past career, I was insulated from changing customer and client sentiments by many levels of Marketing Department "filters". However, on this project, our client's wishes had a much more immediate and direct effect on the development process. It is easier for the developers to please the customer in the absence of stodgy and rigid marketing barriers between them.

Communication skills kept us all focused on the real issues and prevented us from falling into design pitfalls. I appreciated my teams comments and their trust in my design abilities. My team was a group I would be delighted to work with in the future.
