PayPal Payment Links Creation

After you login to PayPal you will be in the Business Account Overview section. I suggest that you click on the help section in the upper right corner of the window to learn about some of what PayPal offers and how things are done. I am going to explain here how setting up a link for placing on the website works and the process of getting paid and how to get the money into your bank account.

Creating a Payment Link

1.     After logging in you click on the tab at the upper right called “sell”.

2.     Look in the column on the right of that page that says “sell on a website”. Under that column click onto the link that says “single item purchases”.

3.     Here you will want to put in the item name (ex. Professional Membership). You do not have to put anything under item ID if you do not need to. You will then want to put in the amount, such as $60.

4.     Where it says “choose a button” is only if you were to sell a product. Just ignore this question, since the button will not be used and will not effect the next step.

5.     Click on the button that says “create button now”.

6.     This will take you to a section that says “copy your custom html code”. Where you see the box that says “link for emails”. Drag your mouse over all the text in that box and copy it.

7.     From here you will need to open the memberthankyou.html page either in Dreamweaver or another html editor and use this link code as the link from your Professional Membership link to the PayPal payment system. I suggest using this as your code from that thank you page, but have the link show something quite different (see example below).

8.     As an example of this you can click on the following link and see how it might look for you. This link was created as a test for All About Retreats. The exact link for the code is: https://www.paypal.com/xclick/business=relax%40allaboutretreats.com&item_name=test&amount=40.00. But you can just create a link that says Professional Membership Test and paste the above code into the html like I did on this document.

9.     You can follow steps 1 thru 7 for each link you want to create.

Getting the Money

1.     When someone pays you an email will be sent to you by PayPal to tell you that a payment was made.

2.     Once you login to PayPal all you need to do is click on the Withdraw Funds tab at the top of the window.

3.     From there you will just need to choose from one of the options given, such as “transfer funds to my bank account”. Be aware that about a 3% fee is taken out of each payment made to you. All is secure and there should be no problems.

The help files for PayPal are very good and it is really easy once you get used to it all.
