Diane McWilliams: ednamae@sonic.net, (707) 523-4595 Employment Objective: To design Web sites alone or as part of a small Sonoma county based Web development team. Skills: I will be completing my Graphic Web Design Certificate in December of this year. I have won numerous awards for my photography and would like to combine photography with Web design skills and HTML content developer expertise. I am currently certified by Adobe as a expert (ACE) in Adobe Photoshop. Courses: Adobe Photoshop through the advanced level. In addition to Photoshop classes, Web Design (2 levels), Web Graphics (2 levels), Screen Design, ImageReady, Adobe Illustrator (2 levels), Telecommunications, Web Content Practicum, Adobe PageMaker (3 levels) Painter and, in the Fall semester, the Business of Web Design, and Electronic Portfolio. Project Role: Content developer, storyboard designer, scanning and color correction of images for the Web designer. What I learned from the project: I learned about what is involved in the development of a Web site when working on a team. I was introduced to the different jobs on a Web development team, the importance of each member, and how his/her role relates to others on the team. I learned the importance of effective communication with the client and implementation of the client's hopes and goals for the Web site.
Kimberly Luce: kluce@earthlink.net, 707-548-6929 Employment Objective: To obtain a career position as Web programmer (specializing in Java) and project manager. Skills: Access Database, MS Word & Excel, HTML, C++, Java, JavaScript. Courses: Access Database, Beginning and Advanced HTML, C++, Java, JavaScript (currently self-taught/teaching), Perl/cgi scripting (To be completed 7/01) Project Role: Project Manager. As Project Manager I was responsible for keeping track and guiding the entire project from the client side to the production side. On the production/team side I held team meetings each Monday afternoon. We looked at what we had done, tasks to be completed in the next week, and any problem areas or potential problem areas that needed to be resolved or watched. I also created a production schedule and timeline, and facilitated getting necessary materials from our client to our production designer and content developers. On the client side, I created a list of deliverables, project proposal, pre-set client/team meetings, and sent our client monthly status reports. What I learned from the project: From this experience I observed what must be some of the necessary ingredients for successful Web Site production: 1. A willing client who met, with heartfelt smiles, all commitments of time, photos, content and meetings. (Thank you Pat !) 2. An enthusiastic designer who self motivates, pays attention to detail, doesn't over complicate, listens to the client's ideas and begins right away to create mockups and templates, and then finishes them well before they are due. 3. A content Designer/programmer who simply "wonders if", then investigates all options, & intimately knows the inner-workings of those options long before she needs to place them into action. 4. Another content developer who works well with anyone, and is, "there" for the Team, to do anything asked of her, to the best of her ability even when it wasn't within her job description. 5. And a project manager that simply keeps the focus of tasks to be completed, gives praise for what had already been done, and asks "how can I help" make it easier for you? I give thanks for having been able to work with all of the anonymous folks I just referred to. Cheers everyone !
Erika Leppelmeier: erikasl@pacbell.net, 707-576-1345 Employment Objective: To obtain employment in the Web development field with emphasis on HTML coding, programming and customer and team interaction. Skills: HTML, HomeSite, WS FTP, Microsoft Suite, Photoshop and Code Warrior; a strong ability to learn new software programs quickly through self study. I have excellent troubleshooting, communication, and team relationship skills. Courses: C++, Beginning and Advanced Web Design (HTML), Photoshop 6.0, Web Content Practicum; Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, concentration in Management Information Systems. Project Role: Content Developer with minimal programming responsibilities. As Content Developer I assembled content into templates and created text only versions of assigned pages. As programmer I created and configured a form as requested by the Client, researched various ISP’s, determined one that best met the Client’s needs and published the site. What I learned from the project: This project reinforced the importance of team work. I learned that a balance can be found between the technical and the human side of things which makes the group processes more effective. Professionalism, dedication to the project team, required skills and good intentions are crucial to successfully working together over a period of time.
Craig Palmer: cp57@earthlink.net, 707-823-2827 Employment Objective: To pursue a career in the field of web site design and development, preferably with a firm that is dedicated to providing the utmost in professionalism and quality. Skills: Strong sense of layout design and balance, detail oriented, highly organized, creative and resourceful. Excellent client and team relationship skills. Ability to work on both Mac and PC. Courses: Beginning and Advanced HTML, Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, ImageReady, PageMaker, and PageMill. Attained the Adobe Certified Expert designation for Photoshop 5.0. Project Role: Designer. The role of designer was a wonderful challenge because of the many levels of delivery. From providing what the client wants, to creating a template that works for the content developers, to making sure the product works as planned in various browsers and environments, I perceived the process like putting together a jigsaw puzzle with purpose, meaning, and appeal. What I learned from the project: I learned that when you have a conscientious and cohesive team, anything is possible, especially when the client becomes a part of the team. Everyone working together for the common goal creates a positive working environment, which contributes to the excellence of the product.
