Heidi Pettis: shyheidi@gamebox.net, (707) 528-7702 Employment Objective: My objective is to eventually find a job with a nice atmosphere where I can make a living designing pretty websites for people. I think that would be fun, there aren't enough nice looking sites out there, the web people need our help. ; ) Skills: My skills include Photoshop, ImageReady, Flash, msAccess, notepad (aka html), some javascript (I'm learning), some ASP, some Visual Basic, some C++, and... that's all I can think of for now, but my skills are ever-changing anyway because I'm always taking so many computer classes. Courses: Relevant Courses: Photoshop A, B, and C, Flash 1 and 2, Access beg. and adv., Telecommunications, beg. Visual Basic, beg. C++, beg. javascript, beg. ASP, Business of Web Design, Principles of Screen Design, Web Portfolios, Graphics for the Web (or something like that), beg. UNIX, and whatever else I've forgotten. Irrelevant Courses: Intermediate Algebra, English 1A, Archery, Fencing (3 times so far), and um...um... Well, lemme put it this way, after this semester I'll have finally gotten my web design certificate, which is worth 16 units. In the process of getting it, I've somehow ended up with 70 units to my credit. (I've got a 3.925 GPA) Project Role: I designed the Horse Council website, I programmed the template to make work easier for Lucy, the content developer for the site, because she had enough to do without searching through lots of code looking for the variables that needed to be changed... I was responsible for choosing and scanning the images used on the site, messing with the logo a little bit, and in all other ways designing the site. What I learned from the project: I learned that just because your client wants a website, you can't assume that means they're web-savvy (sp?). In the past I always made sites for myself or for internet friends, people who knew plenty about the web and what to expect from a website, even if they didn't know how to code. I learned the value of having lots of patience, and meditating or finding some other way to relax every once in awhile. For awhile I didn't think this project was going to make it. All in all, it was a challenge. I think it was a good experience, because I can feel confident that it won't be much harder in the real world. It will be on a larger scale and a faster pace, which means the degree of stress is multiplied, but the fact that we successfully got through this site makes me feel confident that we could successfully get through whatever is thrown at us by future clients. =)
Lucy Kenyon: seishin@pon.net, (707) 206-0243 Employment Objective: Freelancing as a web designer and doing maintenance on existing sites or the ones I design. Skills: HTML, Photoshop, web design. Courses: HTML A & B, Photoshop A & B, C++, Designing Graphics for Web Pages, Advanced Web Graphics, Web Content Development.
