Employment Objective: The bulk of my previous experience has been in the accounting arena of the corporate business world. My employment objective at present in Web Development would be to work in a freelance environment, or a small start-up Web Development team environment. At present I am also working a bit in the print area, newsletters etc.

Skills: I am a highly motivated and a very dependable person to work with. I am very comfortable in creating web sites, and or re-designing existing sites as well as maintaining web sites. I have a great deal of experience in multi-tasking environments and have the ability to be flexible and change gears when necessary.

Courses: HTML A&B, Photoshop A&B, Illustrator A&B, Painter 6, Dreamweaver A&B, Flash A&B, Web Graphics A&B, Principles of Screen Design, Computer Graphic Concepts, Typography, Telecommunications, Online Portfolio, Painting, English, Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Earned Certificate in Web Site Development and Web Graphic Design.

Project Role: Project Manager - Responsible for creating and maintaining the production site, submitting the bid and creating various reports. Scheduling meetings between the client and team and the team and team.

What I learned from the project: What I learned from the project is that a team can either be a great asset or it could be the downfall of a project. Communication is a key element in working as a team. Drive and ambition and attitude also play a key role. Personal lives can also have a great effect on an individual, life happens and how you adapt can greatly affect your role on a team. Skills and experience can also have an impact. On the client end of a project firm deadlines can greatly enhance the chance of staying on tract. In a classroom environment deadlines are essential, in the real working world it would be handled differently depending on your contract and or agreement.

Ruth Lake: lakewebdesign@aol.com, (707)838-6360

Employment Objective: I want a marketing, sales, web design, photography combination in some horse related product or service business. I have a small but growing web design business and would like to expand it to include mobile photography service. I enjoy going to horse activities, taking photos, and putting them on the web.

Skills: I have two published sites, as well as my own, and a third completed for a nonprofit who is looking for funds to set up domain name & hosting. I am enthusiastic, creative, professional, flexible, and work well as part of a team or independently. I enjoy marketing, trade shows, face to face sales, and helping people get what they need.

Courses: I have completed: HTML A& B, Web Graphic A & B, Photoshop A & B, Illustrator A & B, Web Graphics w/Illustrator, Principles of Screen Design, GoLive A, Adobe Acrobat, Desktop Publishing with WordPerfect. I am self teaching myself InDesign, and Live Motion from the Classroom in a Book.

Project Role: I am Designer for Springs Up, and from the beginning had a feel for the heart beat of the spings. The map on the home page is a key element as location has everything to do with funding sources. It was fun blending the colors to make a site that would appeal to the funders and the local residents as well. It was important to have it be sophisticated yet warm and inviting. I believe the design accomplishes those goals.

What I learned from the project: I learned a lot about handling a client, and refining design. My photography editing skills, table layout, and code editing got a good refresher course as well. Working as part of a team is very different, and communication between team & client, and team & team is critically important. I feel much more confident about my design skills and next time may even tackle the Project Manager role.

Employment Objective: I would like to experience that of a full time job within this industry, but my sense of it is that I'll need more programming skills and knowledge. There could be a future position at my current job, which of course would suit me well. Another possible objective was the teaching market. I've always wanted to teach - being that I enjoy sharing information and helping others.

Skills: I've been in sales/marketing for well over 15+ years. I've done promotions and advertising in commercial television (Disney & Univision/spanish) and local radio (KRQR). Product management and market testing. I've done outside and inside sales. And currently in the Wholesales Distri- bution market. I've gained a whole new knowlege and respect for HTML. I'm very comforatable with many graphic programs and editing software.

Courses: Well it all began in a small garage in the backyard, but its taken a couple 3 years to get down this road. All these classes were taken on a part time bases. Here's the list: - Intro to HTML - Photoshop/Image Ready - Dreamweaver -Flash - Director - Illustrator - GoLive - Firework - A Java Script class where a little part of me died!!

Project Role: This was a good experience, although I really wanted to Design the site, instead - I ended up developing the content. But, just the same, my main focus was Content. Part of the challenge was making sure the information didn't get overbearing and unbalanced the rest of the site. Probably less would've been more; we ended up with hugh amounts of content/text and, in my opinion, over-whelmed the pages. Storyboard, too. Did some programming stuff that I learned from our programmer.

What I learned from the project: I learned a great deal about working in a group setting. If this was ANYTHING like it is in the professional world - I may reconsider entering the web industry altogether. I realize that with differing opinions, without the over- hanging conviction of a dollar investment, people can and will, take advantage of a good opportunity - like that of a given web team. During this class, I believe alot of our efforts could've been assisted greatly if the client could have been more accounable with our time restraints. Many internal conflict issues came up within our team due to a client, who in my opinion, wasted valuable time getting needed material and answers to our questions. But the pro-active side to this experience is - I've learn a greater deal about programming, more about my own, personal graphic design ability. I learned that getting to know the client's objective and the nature of their place in the market, greatly increases the project's presentation on the site! Thanks, QDog!
