Here are the instructions in regards to building the "Theatre Arts"
pages...
You will be building second level pages named below;
past.html (Past Performances)
cert.html (Certificate Programs)
current.html (Current Season)
boxoffice.html (ticket order information)
calendar.html (calendar placed on this page)
resources.html (list of resources)
classes.html (list of classes)
To build these pages use the file called "about.html"
As far as images that change from page to page...in the image folder you will
be looking at photos as follows
header_xxx.jpg
title_xxx.jpg
on_xxx.jpg
snav_xxx.jpg
over_xxx.jpg
for example, when you build" cert.htm"l; you will open the "about.html"
page and save it as" cert.html". Then remove the "header_about.jpg"
image and replace it with the "header_cert.jpg" image. You will
also remove "title_about.jpg" image and replace it with "title_cert.jpg".
next you will have to replace the navigation...you will remove the "on_about.jpg"
image, replacing it with the navigation image "snav_about.jpg" and
the rollover state image "over_about.jpg" That will fix the "about
us" link,
then you will have to change the state of the Certificate Programs link...you
will look for the "on_cert.jpg" image, replacing the cert navigation
image currently on the page.
You have a template for the teacher's bios...every page must look like the one
you have "wendy.html". All images are in lower case and all pages
are saved in lower case, using the .html extension. If you are using Dreamweaver,
make sure you have your preferences set on .html rather than .htm Teacher files
should be saved as follows...
bob.html, celeste.html, elliot.html, frank.html, john.html (John Rustan), john_s.html,
julia.html, kathye.html, laura.html, leira.html, leslie.html, maryanne.html,
michael.html, mollie.html, peter.html, robert.html, theo.html, tom.html, virginia.html,
etc....
Things not to forget, make sure you have the same alt tags from page to page.
Every single image within this Web site must have an alt tag. (Please refer
to the alt tags I have done for the About Us page, this is how it should look)
Search engines compare alt tag text, page text and meta tags, rating the pages
accordingly. We want to be ranked #1; this typically takes a year or so to develop
strong search engine placement, we will give the Theatre Arts Web site every
chance to achieve this ahead of schedule by doing the "Whole Job".
Web sites are more than attractive pages. They are hard work, if they are done
efficiently. Nine times out of ten, the pages you see on the Internet are not
properly developed.
Of course, I am not assuming that I know everything, just want to pass on information
I have received from many helpful sources.
Nick, if you every have any questions, I welcome your call. I think you have
a lot of talent; combine that with real world skills and you may be a great
Web developer someday. Try not to leave things for the last possible moment.
I am sure you hear this often from your parents. When I was younger, I had to
learn the hard way too, just trying to save you a few valuable steps in the
walk of life.
Enjoy this project, we will have a terrific finished product; noteworthy when
presentation day arrives. I am thankful to have been given what I consider the
best project in the class.
Cordially,
