I changed the background color of the current tab indicator in the medium.css file at: #mainmenu a.current { background:#f0f0f0 /*url(img/menuhover-red.jpg)*/ top left repeat-x; I also changed the site background color to a harsh red at:#container { background:#CC0066 /*url(img/bodybg-red.jpg)*/ repeat-x; I couldn't find a font color that I liked against the red, though.

I changed the color and images on the main site pages: index.html, page2.html and photos.html. I altered the medium2.css file. I made changes to the background images in Photoshop.

I had several issues with this assignment. First, I can no longer access the student server (Aaaaaaaaaaaargh). OK, so I uploaded my pages to my sonic account.

Also, I learned the lesson of the power of using external css. If you use it exclusively, all of the pages change, voila! Unfortunately, I had played around and made some of the changes in the div tag, and it took a long time to investigate why changes were NOT taking place and which div is which. All better now.

I changed the color of just about everything. I would like to add a photo in the header area but I'm not sure how to place it exactly where I want it.

From the homework page, go to the Website Home Paage to start off. 3 other pages are linked in. The photo gallery didn't turn out quite as I wanted - I don't like having to adjust the scroll everytime I open a new image. I tried to do framesets, but I don't have a firm enough grip on the CSS to work it out. Other than that it turned out ok.

Please Note: Not all pages have the correct text or photos, this site is still under construction. The Home Page and the Yellowstone Page is nearly done, the remaining pages will be updated with the correct text and additional related pictures. On many pages, unrelated text and photos are currently being used to create place holders as template pages until the site is completed.

I changed the color scheme in CSS on the all the developed pages (except I left the color and fonts alone on the Div-Color page), changed the fonts, spacing, and font sizes. I also adjusted how the images fit in on the home page. I modified the top image on the home page in Photoshop and added in the logo "crazy CATS" (created in Illustrator). This is best viewed in Firefox, Netscape, and Opera. The text comes in smaller in Safari and the sidebar background is shortened in IE. I will be fixing the sidebar for the IE browser and making a table for my art filters page as part of our next lesson. I'm still learning how to do that. (If this is viewed in Safari the art filters page's copy and links (at the foot of the page) shift up and out of place due to the text being smaller. Placing the images and description of same in a table should take care of this problem.)

I spent a lot of time inside of Photoshop for this one. I recreated from scratch the image used in the main container creating an abstract digital bike rider as the background. I used a gradient for the body background and place an animated gif within the page header so that it would position on the page where ever the heading was placed. I made my own tabs image but colored them to match the other colors on the page. The less obvious changes were to the link colors and to color of the borders around the images.

easy to notice the changes, other changes: I tried just a little bit to use filters in my background image but I didnt like it. I change the color of the background on the image tha says "Republica Oriental del Uruguay" and replaced with the 2 colors to make it match. I have to finish changing the backgrounds of the other images on the other pages.

There is a link on the homework page to the home page of the site. It displays all of the color changes I have made. The same changes on all of the pages so far created. I have two more pages to go: one page for the tab "ODC contacts" and one for the social security resolution link on the projects page.

Lesson 5 - Color ** Scheming in Color ** Adding color posed an interesting challenge, in that I had two distinct schemes I wanted to work with. One being a darker "Royal" feel for the BG sky with a hint of purple (as in grape juice) and green as a calming influence. ** The other leaning more towards a sudtle group of tones. This proved boring as I tried different sets of softer tones. In the end I when for the darker, bolder scheme. ** With help from the site wellstyled.com, I settled on a color-group that I feel worked well. The one area that may be a little weak is the hover color. ** Although Navigation is for next week, I did play around with identifing the current page on the leftside bar nav. This is where having some understanding of the code helped eminently. I needed to create sub-sub classes to make it work. ** GMS

I changed the background colors, menu colors and .gif on the border to change that color too, all in the .css. I removed the image borders. I changed the font colors in h1 of both the sidebar and content area to match the purple in the cranes' wings. The smaller images on the pastels page now link to larger versions. There was a problem with permissions on the server that Linda got fixed for me. Thanks, Linda! All pages validate to transitional.

Site is now colorized. I've tweaked a bunch of things including the background, main menu, and site head. I actually liked the template. My messing around produced some slight improvements but not many I'll ultimately keep.
