Comments about testing
Out of 7-8 typical users I have only received 2 responses back. The responses were positive with the only critisim being that the pictures on the site were out dated. We have requested newer pictures from the client but as of yet we've not received them. The testers responed to a variety of questions that related to the type of device they were using to view the site. Their fist impressions of the layout, color an content displayed in the site. The responses received were consitent with the client and class testing responses and we had already begun making some adjustments. Overall he site has turned out quite well and we are very happy with it.

I was surprised by the amount of favorable comments that were submitted. Also, because I'm doing the PM, IMD & Designer roles, that included the: Client Testing Form User Testing Form Equipment Testing Form This took quite a bit of time.

Special Thanks to Stephanie Shea from 8929 for sharing their PALS Website.

Comments about testing
The target market was current staff/board members, volunteers, puppy raisers, and those new to PALS. The testers were two board members, one self-described "site-tester" and five new to PALS testers. In total, 20 participants were recruited, but only 8 responded. The test was administered by KwikSurveys.com and was anonymous. The survey consisted of 18 questions that were multiple choice, short answer, and open response: 1. What is the resolution size of the monitor you are using to view the PALS website. 2. What operating system are you using? 3. What browser did you use to view the website? Please include version number (ex: Internet Explorer 9, Safari 5.0.5, Firefox 11, etc.) 4. What is your internet connection speed? 5. My first impression of the opening screen was positive and I wanted to explore the site. 6. The photos at the top of the home page changed in a fashion similar to a slideshow 7. Please navigate to Progams --> Service Dogs --> About Service PALS. Please choose the category that you feel best represents your agreement with the following statement: The page "Service Dogs" is a necessary transition between the Programs page and the About Service PALS page. 8.Please navigate to the Events page. Click on the Map. Did clicking the map take you to Google maps? 9. Please navigate to the "In Appreciation" page (Found under "Contact Us" page on main menu). Please choose three of the listed links. In the space below, list the links you visited, and note if the link worked (ex: yes, no, this isn't where I'm supposed to be). 10. Please choose the category that you feel best represents your agreement with the following statement: The photo gallery images are a unique and excellent representation of the PALS organization. 11. In the Photo Gallery, the images loaded quickly on my browser 12. The website gave me new information about Paws as Loving Support Assistance Dogs – their mission and organization - than I had before I visited this site 13. The site held my interest. 14. The organization and sequencing of information is appropriate. 15. The site is easy to navigate and the navigation graphics were adequate identification for each page or section 16. What do you like best about the site? 17. What do you like least about the site? 18. Please use the space below to give any further comments about the site. Overall the feedback was positive. Several had negative reactions to the color scheme of the site, with three users commenting specifically on the text color. Some users that turned in surveys late in the game, found that the Google Maps link and home page slideshow did not work. They also found that one of the pages I asked them to evaluate no longer existed. This was because other team members had begun making changes as a result of the classmate testing. Those surveyed in class and in this survey had similar suggestions for change. Other than the removal of one page, correction of typos, and changes to typeface, the team will not make any other changes. The client requested the text color and other stylistic elements.

Special Thanks to John Zeni from 8929 for sharing their Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Website.

Comments about testing
Testing showed no major problems. For the most part we achieved our goals for the website. There were some negative comments but those mostly concerned personal preferences.

Special Thanks to Alex Aspinall from 8929 for sharing their US Green Building Council REC Website.

Comments about testing
Success! We did well and have just a few things to consider adjusting.

Special Thanks to Craig Stewart from 8929 for sharing their Martial Arts Youth Institute Website.

Comments about testing
The target market is youth ages 4-17, their parents, and contributors to the MAYi organization. The MAYi organization is a non-profit that incorporates the training of martial arts to help disadvantaged kids. Testors have average to more knowledgable computer skills and are regular past users of the MAYi site. We received emails for 10 testors of which only 2 responded. Surprised we didn't get more responses from the typical users, but we may receive further information later next week as they might just be slow to respond. Feedback was in line with what our team was noticing as well so it confirms areas that need to be addressed. Placement of text, better identifying contributors, adding further staff information, and increasing the overall content will be the final goals.

Special Thanks to Robert Peers from 8929 for sharing their Equi-Ed Website.

Comments about testing
Many interesting comments from both users and the client. Some modifications were made in response to the feedback. Everyone on the team has contributed in testing and making site changes as needed.

Special Thanks to Lisa Glover from 8929 for sharing their SSU-CCE Website.

Comments about testing
All the survey results are linked through the project site at the URL listed. The target market for the site comprise three distinct groups: SSU Faculty, SSU Students, and Agencies (or Community Partners.) As a consequence of the need to refine input, 3 surveys were developed in order to isolate each group's responses. There were a total of 16 testers, only 4 of whom were Typical Users: 2 returns were from Students and 2 returns were from communities Agencies. There have been no surveys completed by Faculty as of yet. The anonymous survey was accessed through the new site's navbar for ease of access and was hosted by a free online survey service. The online service allowed a fairly simple way to access, present, collate, and analyze data from the survey. Results of the surveys will be processed with the client in order to offer an alternative perspective on how the site "plays" among the intended audiences. Feedback will also be helpful to identify and address structural issues like typos and bad image links.

Special Thanks to Richard Bassett from 8325 for sharing their Sonoma County Family YMCA Website.

Comments about testing
The YMCA did a great job on the testing. Out of 10 request we received 8. Overall the testers loved the YMCA website but we need to fix a few things.

Special Thanks to Nesho Dimov from 8325 for sharing their Extended Child Care Website.

Comments about testing
Collecting testing results about our own websites is unnerving, to say the least. Conclusion: The site is well built and with little improvement it can be successfully published. No significant hardware or software challenges were encountered during the testing of the site. Based on the user testing, links have to be checked for stability and the missing pieces, such as video have to be plugged in in order to see this project to its fruition.

Special Thanks to Kirsten Kristensen from 8324 for sharing their SRJC Computer Sciences Dept. Website.

Comments about testing
The link is to the Anet Dunne student testimonial video. I had been thinking as an independent IMD for the Computer Sciences Dept., I wasn't expected to be testing anything on these videos. If I should have, I understand that I won't be receiving points for this assignment.

Special Thanks to Bill Batten from 8325 for sharing their Equi-Ed Website.

Comments about testing
I wasn't sure if I was supposed to conduct my own test so I solicited a bunch of people from my son's theater group to take a look at the gallery, answer questions and give me their impressions. The results are on the student server under "IDM_test".

The testing of the web site is one of the most important parts of the process and is all to often forgotten, as shown by the results of the testing phase. I for one am happy that it was given a priority.

Special Thanks to Sarah Fogarty from 8929 for sharing their Habitat for Humanity Website.

Comments about testing
It was difficult to tabulate the results when the responses were lengthy critiques. It retrospect, less open-ended questions might have been better. There is valuable information here for the client, however, should she want to make some of the suggested design changes after the handoff. There were also good suggestions for editing the content, which will be helpful to her as well, since content-editing was frustratingly out of our purview.

Special Thanks to Sue McGee from 8324 for sharing their Greenacre Homes Website.

Do you find the site easy to navigate? Did the images load quickly on each page? Does the site offer good balance between images and text? Is the staff’s experience and qualifications clearly stated? Is it easy to locate what programs they provide? If you could make any changes to this site, what would they be? 6/ N/A 7/ N/A

Special Thanks to Caroline Quintanilla from 8929 for sharing their Birth Psychology Website.

Comments about testing
1 - The target market is medical and psychological health professionals, as well as interested lay persons such as parents, adoptive parents, grandparents. 2 - The testers were people suggested by the client. Some were board members, professionals, students in the field. One was the spouse of a current member of the organization. 3 - I asked 14 people to complete the testing. I received 8 responses. 4 - We had a mixture of PC and Mac, browsers, etc. Most people were on Comcast cable. One was dialup (she was unsuccessful to even follow the link) 5 - It was a fairly long questionnaire. Here's a link to an email with the questions: http://student.santarosa.edu/~cquintan/webbiz/files/birthpsych-testquestions_pm.pdf 6 & 7 - The test results and proposed changes (which we will discuss at our Wednesday meeting and decide what will be done) are on the development site. Here is the direct link: http://student.santarosa.edu/~cquintan/webbiz/files/birthpsych-typicalusertesting.pdf With 8 responses, we had lots of information.

But from what I got was that they both like the site better then what it was and its easy to navagate

Special Thanks to Dia Jenkins from 8929 for sharing their Napa Valley Breastfeeding Coalition Website.

Comments about testing
Due to a communication error, our designer included the users in her site testing summary. Client testing and User testing will most likely end up on the same page

Special Thanks to Damian Baker from 8325 for sharing their Face to Face Website.

Comments about testing
Given the nature of Face to Face, they were not able to give me actual clients to do the typical user testing due to confidentiality. While understandable, it might skew the results of the typical user testing because the names that they did supply are either employees of Face to Face or professional partners. So it might not be a true representation of the 'typical user' but they are definitely knowledgeable of the culture which requires their services.

Special Thanks to James Anderson from 8929 for sharing their Resurrection Roller Girls Website.

Comments about testing
The Target audience for the site are fans and possible future skaters for the Resurrection Roller Girls, an all women Roller Derby Team in Sonoma County. The Testers consisted of friends and teammates of the Resurrection Roller Girls. They sounded like a very enthusiastic group and the ones that submitted answers to the survey were pretty through in their responses and suggestions. I received a list of ten or eleven possibles from the client and out of those I got six responses. Testing was conducted on a very broad range of conditions. The testing was done on both Mac and PC platforms and one tester tested on mobile devices as well. Monitor sizes ran from 13" to 21" and small itouch, google phone and ipad screens. Five different Operating systems where used and browsers included, Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Internet Explorer. And all testers were connected via DSL. Here's a list of the questions asked: Name Questions regarding hardware used in testing: Type of computer used (Mac, PC) Monitor size Monitor colors Operating system Browser(s) used to view site (example; FireFox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Opera, etc.) Please include version. Type of Internet connection Optional: Mobile phone device Questions regarding the site: What is the site about? What is the overall tone and feel of the site? What was your first impression of the opening screen? Where did you first click? Did you find the site easy to navigate? Were the pages interesting? Why or why not? What is your impression of the color scheme and images ? What did you like best about the site? What suggestions for improvement do you have? Were there any links that did not work, images that did not load, typos? Questions specific to clients goals Did you find the information on the site regarding how to join the organization? Describe how you found this item. Did you find the calendar of events, was it easy to read? Did find the slide show? Did the slide show load quickly, did the pictures swap out too fast, too slow or just right. Please give us an estimate of how long it took the photos to change by counting 1, 2, 3, etc and tell us that number. Summary of results: Overall the test results were positive in all questions asked. There were a few concerns about proportion sizes of the navigation buttons and a color choices on some of the text areas. There was also a couple of negitive comments on the white fade on the slideshow and one tester felt there was too much text and not enough photos. There were a couple of links that didn't work and at least one typo was called out. But overall they all liked the site and felt it was a success. I suggest that we correct any typos and links that aren't working. If time the transition between the slides in the slide show should probably be looked at. I don't believe there will be time to correct some of the suggested design changes in the navigation or adding more photos to the site before the handoff. But this maybe something the designer might want to pursue. And the client will be instructed on how to update photos to the roster pages.

Special Thanks to Imelda Estrada from 8929 for sharing their 4 Paws Learning and Wellness Website.

Comments about testing
I received only one answer from the original 10 set of names our client selected. She reached out to other 10 friends last Thursday, this time closer friends to help. And I received 9 answers back. The hardware questions were not answered totally, but we obtained good answers on the actual experience. This users test is very dependent on people the PM doesn't even know, I was lucky I got answers and that my client had many good friends. Even one of them was so helpful eventhough she was coming back from chemo, made me feel sooo bad....I presented the results in percentages as it is the way done in surveys.

Special Thanks to Kevin Schirado from 8325 for sharing their Petaluma Recycling Website.

Comments about testing
We recieved a list of ten users to contact from our client representative. All of the individuals are memebers of OADS. We recieved responses from 3 of the ten users by the deadline. The responses were very positive overall. one tester expressed some concern over the split navigation design, but when asked if the site was easy ti navigate all testers said yes.

The assignment provided great input and validation of the project work so far! I expect to consolidate all testing feedback and agree with the team and client about what changes will be made. Anything that is broken will be fixed. The client understands there will be no content changes at this point.

Special Thanks to Kathy Samoun from 8929 for sharing their The RainTree Initiative Website.

Comments about testing
Testing went well, although we started with 14 testers I received very detailed responses from 6 out of the 14. Overall the response to the layout, design and interactive media was very positive. Although there are a couple technical issues to be addressed, most of the issues were with content.

Special Thanks to Derek Fiedler from 8929 for sharing their wildlife Website.

Comments about testing
Our target market includes those in the Sonoma County wishing to remove wild animals safely and humanly. I had one tester of the list of ten that I sent, she is a typical user of the site. She answered several questions regarding the functionality, appearance, and accuracy of the site. Her answers revealed several strengths and a few weaknesses. One of the main areas of information was difficult for her to find. Overall, I believe her responses were encouraging and affirmed that we met the clients original benchmarks.

Special Thanks to Lennie Briese from 8929 for sharing their AIARE Website.

Comments about testing
I was disappointed we did not get more responses to our User Test. We did get a good crosssection of computers and systems to respond. We got a MAC using Safari, Vista using Firefox and XP using IE. That makes me feel more comfortable with the testing. Many of the issues were already discovered or temporary because of the "test" data.

Special Thanks to Holly Folendorf from 8929 for sharing their SRJC Music Department Website.

Comments about testing
I have only gotten a limited response so far, I should expect more by tomorrow. From the responses I have gotten the users definitely liked the overall website and really enjoyed the images and music player; I think most of what the client wanted has been met, and so far no problems.

Special Thanks to Janis Oberman from 8324 for sharing their Children's Village Website.

Comments about testing
Actually, Matt Poirier, the content developer, sent out the user testing questionnaire, since I am working on the Video Project as well as this one. However, I tested the site myself, especially the interactive parts that I had done: the calendar and the slide show. They look deceptively simple, but they are on almost every page. So, if they do not work properly, it impacts the entire site. Also, I am not sure that the users were testing the lower level pages enough. This is important, since the slide show does not run on the home page, only on the lower level pages.

It was really interesting to receive feedback and hear differing opinions. Unfortunately our first respondent was extremely negative! Happily the rest were positive. It would be really nice to do a little user test earlier, with the mock-ups for home and second-level pages.

Comments about testing
1. Describe your target market. RECAMFT offers its membership professional networking and educational activities and events, and to provide the Sonoma Co. community with information about the services and expertise of its members. 2. Describe your testers (no names) Many of the testers were RECAMFT board members or past boards members and were familiar with the RECAMFT organization and the old RECAMFT website. 3. How many testers did you have? Of these ten, seven completed the site questionnaire and returned it to the team. 4. Describe the conditions of the testing The questionnaire was sent out on Monday, May 3rd. Because of team personnel changes just ahead of our scheduled testing period, changes and refinements to the website were ongoing during the testing period. 5. List the questions you asked testers 1. Type of Computer (Mac, PC): 2. Monitor size (in inches): 3. Monitor colors (32 bit, 16 bit, etc.): 4. Operating system (Vista, Windows XP, etc.): 5. Browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, etc.--please include version): 6. Internet connection (cable, DSL, etc.): 7. What is the site’s objective? 8. What is the overall tone and message of the site? 9. Is the overall tone reflected in the images? 10. What was your first impression of the opening screen? 11. Where did you first click? 12. Did you find the site easy to navigate? 13. Were the pages informative and interesting? 14. What is your impression of the color scheme and images? 15. What did you like best about the site? 16. What suggestions for improvement do you have? 17. Were there any links that did not work, images that did not load, or typos? 18. Were you able to easily find a therapist’s name from your Sonoma county city? 19. Were you able to open the newsletter and read it easily? 20. How would a new user join RECAMFT? 6. Summarize the test results While most testers emphatically endorsed the site design, visuals, flash, and clarity of the layout, many found difficulty using the search feature and accessing the newsletter and meeting information because these features weren’t quite ready for testing. With the refinements and changes made by the time over the testing week, many of these concerns were addressed. 7. Describe the changes you plan to implement based on the User Testing Our team will make adjustments to some features of the list menus in the search form, we will pass along user suggestions for new/replacement visuals to the client for future consideration, we will work on fixing the pullout navigation from the main navigation bar.

Special Thanks to Carlos Downie from 8929 for sharing their Grandparents Parenting . . . Again Website.

Comments about testing
Our target audience for the website were Grandparents who find themselves parenting again. We were able to get about 6 testers to test the site, however they were not truly representative of typical users as most if not all were already members of the organization. Some did not respond to all the questions and some responses did not answer the question so much as insert an opinion. It was somewhat difficult sorting through it all, however we have more or less an idea of problems that should to be addressed.

Special Thanks to Noah Freitas from 8929 for sharing their The Children's Village Website.

Comments about testing
As I hinted at the report, the client did not provide us with very "typical" users; instead they were people employed by or actively participating in the organization. In addition some of the respondents chose not to respond to the team but sent feedback directly to the client. I may still receive some more responses. If I do I will post their results as well.

Special Thanks to Larry Roberts from 8324 for sharing their FANHS - Filipino American National Historical Society Website.

We had excellent results from our testors. All 5 of 5 "users" submitted test results. Our users were all familiar with or were members of the FANHS Organization, so provided helpful feedback. We used a couple responses to tweak our site. I helps to see the Website we are so familiar with through someone else's eyes.

Special Thanks to Nichelle Rourke from 8324 for sharing their Sonoma County Folk Society Website.

This assignment really brought to light issues about the site that didn't already occur to me. It shows the very wide range of opinions people can have. While some people give lots of comments others just send a simple message. The suggestions taught me a lot about style and design for the web user.

It was extremely helpful getting everybody together and discussing their impressions. Some extra comments were brought up and it really unified a couple of paragraph content that was not previously caught. I was able to exercise my authority as PM when they proposed to have me type the corrections. I said that we accept electronic files and we need it by Fridat the 7th. They complied and it saved me the extra work! Standing firm works when you are doing what is right for the team.

Comments about testing
Our target market are residents of Petaluma (also southern Sonoma County and northern Marin County), ages 21+. People who are interested in becoming mentors, donating or otherwise supporting the program financially or by volunteering in some other way. The testers involved were residents of Petaluma. Some were provided by our Client and the remaining were provided by myself as Program Manager. I did not personally meet with any of these testers as the testing questionnaire was created to be self explanatory. Were we able to get a total of 5 Typical User testers. The conditions of this test were completely online where you could view directions for the questionnaire and follow the link to the website to review. Questions are as follows: 6 Equipment related questions and 23 operational related. - Your Name: - Computer (Dell 8200, MacBook Pro): - Monitor size (17”, 20”): - Monitor Resolution (800x600, 1280x800): - Operating system (Windows XP, OS 10): - Browser (IE6, IE7, Firefox 2.0): - Internet connection (56k, DSL, T1): ------------------------- 1 - What is the site about? 2 - What is the overall tone and feel of the site? 3 - What was your first impression of the opening screen? 4 - Where did you first click? 5 - Where did you click after the opening screen? 6 - Did you find the site easy to navigate? 7 - Were the pages interesting? Why or why not? 8 - What did you like best about the site? 9 - Did the website load quickly? 10 - Did you find any links that did not work? If so, where? 11 - What suggestions for improvement do you have? 12 - Could you find information on how to become a Mentor? 13 - Who do you think will find this page useful? 14 - Where in the website would a person go to make a donation? 15 - On which page did you find the option to join the E-List and monthly E-Newsletter? 16 - What did you like or not like regarding the Events Calendar? 17 - In your opinion, what is the primary goal of the website? 18 - In your opinion, do you think this website will encourage the recruitment of Mentors? 19 - In your opinion, was there too much information on the first page? 20 - Which version of the documentary did you watch? 21 - Did the documentary play easily, or did you have difficulties? If so, explain. 22 - Did you find the photos from this year's Mad Hatter Ball? 23 - Do you have any additional comments? The results of the typical user testing generally provided us with a positive overall view of the new website. We're noticing that these users like the open easy layout compared to the cluttered layout of the old website. The primary goals and overall feel of the website was successfully portrayed considering the responses given. There was some negative feedback regarding the size of the movies, but overall the majority of users out there should not have any problems. There are no planned changes in response to the typical user testing. Some consideration may be made after the scope of this class to reduce the size of the movie even further and changing the structure of the pages in response to the confusion of the "splash page" and the "home page".
