Educational Goals:
I am intrigued by web design. I specifically want to learn about all of the tools available that may make my life a bit easier. I run several websites, both for my job and my businesses. I am always seeking a more efficient way to do things. I am taking these courses to learn how to design better graphics for the web. I want to design amazing websites that the audience will enjoy and will keep coming back to.

Computer experience -
The computer is my main work tool. I use it for word processing, designing and document control. I can find my way around a computer, but I am not very technical when it comes to hardware. I am also not a software expert. I expect things to work as I need them.

Personal Story
In a nutshell, I am an entrepreneur by nature and have a passion for dynamic and beautiful environments, whether that be a website, buildings or the great outdoors. I'm extremely curious and have a penchant to figure things out. I love a challenge. I also love to cook, grow my own food (one year I harvested over 400 pounds of food). I also love to swim, kayak, run and workout. I have a husband, two kids, a dog, two business, a job with the State of California as a Marketing and Communications Analyst and I volunteer through the Junior League. Throughout my career I have always worked in marketing and graphic design. They go hand in hand; something that I wish I would've known when I was working on my Bachelors. I have taught myself, through trial and error, and with the aid of the Architects and Designers that I worked for. I am now formalizing this training to balance out my resume. This is my second semester at SRJC. I have a degree in Business / Marketing from University of San Francisco. I started my Master in Library and Information Science. I've taken several design courses, randomly throughout my career, at local junior colleges, like QuarkxPress, Illustrator, Photoshop (I didn’t complete it.), Color Theory, InDesign, Intro to Design, Design for Architecture. I’ve completed in Photoshop 1, Web Development 1, and Graphic Design Resources, all online. I am on the track to obtain a Web Development Certificate. And am currently enrolled in Screen Design and Web Development 2.

Educational Goals:
I would like to learn more about how to make webpages, and specifically how to submit information through a website, and then store that information in a database. I work for CAL FIRE, which is a fire department, but we also regulate timber harvesting on private land in California. I would like to learn how to develop an on-line permitting system. CAL FIRE is trying to develop an online permitting system for timber harvesting in order to make the permitting process easier, to reduce paperwork, and make the process more transparent to the public.

Computer experience -
I took the Microsoft Access class a couple of years ago, and the intro to GIS class. I also took CS 50A last semester. I'd really like to learn how to make online forms for data submission, like on Amazon. I think that's really cool!

Personal Story
I have a Bachelors and Masters degree in Forestry from U.C. Berkeley. My folks are from Germany. I like to go swimming for exercise (I just flail my arms around in the water basically), and hiking.

I have a master's degree in Library and Information Studies, we did some basic HTML and CSS and worked with databases. I also have experience with the Adobe Creative Suite as I have worked as a desktop publisher and presentation designer for about ten years.

Personal Story
I am an international student from Canada, I just moved to Santa Rosa at the beginning of 2015. I live alone and my family is in Halifax, Canada, although I was most recently living in Toronto. You might see me riding my pink bicycle around campus or around town, I also enjoy walking long distances and nosing around thrift shops. Finally as time permits I volunteer to promote plant-based eating for the benefit of animals, our health and for the environment. :-D

I used PC and Internet since 90's. I already got my Microsoft Office Specialist Certificate here in SRJC and refresh my knowledge of the office. Also took classes like Unix/Linux, JavaScript, C++, HTML/CSS and have some knowledge of Bootstrap platform. Created some simple web pages and willing to learn more.

Personal Story
I am from Ukraine originally. I came here 5 years ago. I am a single mother. I have a four-year-old boy. I love jogging, boxing, gym. Love mountains, hiking, ocean and swimming too.

I've been using computers all my life, for anything from surfing the internet to playing video games. As such, I'm very familiar with many sites across the web, though I've only recently taken in interest in programming websites, myself.

Personal Story
My parents are both programmers, though I'm the only one out of five kids who plans to follow in those footsteps. I greatly enjoy things like Transformers- that is, almost anything with robots in it. For a while I thought I wanted to build robots for a living, but I've found that I actually prefer programming. Who knows? Perhaps someday I'll go back to robots, only building what's in their heads rather than what they are.

I am a computer science major, I finished all my major specific classes in the first 2 semesters and at this point am just finishing up my general ed in addition to a couple we based classes. CS classes I've taken: CS10 CS11 Java Unix intro to web development I've programmed a few basic desktop apps in Java, and written some web scripts in python. I've built my last 5 computers (one of my favorite activities.) I spend more than my fair share of time on the computer outside of school putting off doing things for school as well.

Personal Story
I like computers and food. I don't do much else. I used to be a distance runner but I got bored with it. I competed in culinary competitions in highschool, and was offered a scholarship to CIA in denver, but I didn't want to cook for a living, so I turned it down.

Goal: Create dynamic websites for my family's businesses and increase my knowledge of design programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Web Design. SRJC has an excellent computer department and I have taken many online courses at SRJC. After taking CS50A last semester, it felt important to sign up for CS50B to increase my knowledge and skills. Due to my remote location, online courses are the only way to further my education.

Computer experience -
For two decades, as Director of California Operations and Controller, at the environmental publisher Island Press, I used computers every day for accounting, book fulfillment, database maintenance, etc. It was my responsibility to research, choose, and customize all the software and hardware necessary to run and maintain a multi-million dollar business. Currently, I maintain the member database for our local, non profit FM radio station, do the computerized accounting for my youngest son's cafe, and make many posters for many organizations.

Personal Story
As a professional business woman, artist, poet, and dancer I have lived in Covelo, California since 1968. We live in the mountains, off the grid, have solar power, cell phones, web satellite, a horse, two Siamese cats and our dog Honeybear, who keeps the bears, mountain lions, raccoon, skunks, and rattlesnakes away. Born in New York City, my art was influenced by my mother, a graduate artist, who taught oil painting and crafts. My current medium is a mixture of watercolor, acrylic, oil, and collage. I find my greatest inspirations from nature, often painting plein air at the wild and scenic Eel River where I live, and at the ocean in Hawaii. I have shown art at many local venues, and am in the process of creating and publishing a book of my art and poetry. With my artist husband, I founded Ganges Naturals to create and publish original fine art, poetry, prose, and photography. I have worked in the fields of marketing, public relations, and environmental publishing and currently I volunteer at the local non-profit Round Valley Community radio station, and for Hearthshire, an independent, non-profit, wild-lands alternative school. Married since 1967, we have three adult children and four grandchildren ages 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Hello, my name is Anne and I live here in Santa Rosa. I live with a Bullboxer named Bruno and I have a couple of roommates. I have 2 grown children who do not live with me and one of them is a student here at the JC as well. I consider myself to be a creative person and I always have art or a home project lined up in a queue in the garage just waiting it's turn to come to life. Designing web pages or reports that would be published to a web page falls right in line with the creating things I enjoy doing.

I passed CS50A, so I am ready to tackle CS50B in pursuit of a Web Design Certificate. I am gearing toward doing more creative work in my career, and have found that knowing desktop publishing, website design and html fundamentals is a basic requirement in todays workplace/world.

Computer experience -
Much, much more than I have time to tell.. data collection/data input/data processing/data analysis, word processing and spreadsheets, all kinds of financial management software, and web design programs, and now presentation and publishing software. Digital photography. I've worked on Windows PC's and mainframe systems throughout my career. I owned a Mac SE and a Mac II when they first came out (blush), and have had a love affair with the Mac ever since.

Personal Story
I worked at SRJC for a long time, and now I work at SSU. I miss my SRJC family, but sometimes you gotta shake IT UP when things aren't working out. I have a BS in Geology and my husband is working on his Environmental Studies degree. We both LOVE Sonoma County, nature, and animals and particularly dogs. We camp and kayak as often as we can. I also like to garden, cook, and can foods for fun, and I am learning to paint. In addition to this class I am taking a color theory class this semester to support my Web Design work and better understand how color affects us.

My educational goals include obtained obtaining an AA from SRJC, completing the Adobe Applications Specialist Certificate, and the Web Designer Certificate. Computer experience -
I've been using computers going back to the 1980s. As a child, my father owned many computers, including the VIC-20, Commodore 64, and Amiga. We used Compuserve and bulletin boards before the WWW existed. I took an interest in Web Graphics and later earned an AA in graphic design from Platt College. I'm currently upgrading my skills at SRJC. I feel my strongest skills are in Photoshop having worked for a time retouching automotive imagery. My plans are to move from Los Angeles to Sonoma County next year so I can take my remaining courses on campus.

Personal Story
Right now, my major interests include: reading books on my Kindle Paperwhite, backyard birding, researching social media trends, taking care of my dogs, photography, snd watching Periscope broadcasts from all over the world. I'm a pescatarian, which means I'm a vegetarian that eats seafood. I have a beagle named Roxy, a beagi (beagle corgi) named Pearl, and a mixed-terrier named Lady. I also enjoy being a backyard birder.

And, I've created another website for a small business that is still under construction. I am confident this course will exponentially improve my ability to create websites.

I'm a fairly compentent front-end user as I've used computer practically my entire life. I most comfortable with Windows 7. I'm learning about different operating systems and recently completed the UNIX/LINUX essentials course. Also, I am interning at Santa Rosa's Computer Recycling Center. My goals is to be able to build, install O/S, software, code websites and ultimately manage enterprise systems.

Hello! I've been working as an editor of fiction for the past five years, and although I love editing, I wish to broaden my skillset by learning how to program web pages. I have worked at SRJC for the last two years and have been taking classes to help me improve in my job. Last spring I took the Web Development 1 class and found that I really enjoyed it. After taking Photoshop this summer, I decided that I would like to complete the Web Design certificate and see if I can launch a web design business on the side. This class will further me along in this goal. I am also taking Principles of Screen Design this semester.

Computer experience -
Back in the day when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I started using rudimentary word processing, database and spreadsheet programs and even took a COBOL programming class. In order to complete my job duties more effectively over the years, I taught myself whatever programs were necessary (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and how to use the internet for research purposes. I have taught elementary age students basic computer literacy and word processing (using PCs). When I started my current job, I switched over to a Mac and I use many software programs and conduct extensive internet research. I will be also taking over webmaster duties soon. I have completed formal coursework in Word, Excel, Quickbooks and HTML/CSS over the last three years.

Personal Story
I was a classroom teacher for 17 years in Fresno before moving to Sonoma County in 2012 with my husband and two daughters (now 7th & 9th grades). My husband teaches at the Petaluma campus of SRJC and I work at the Santa Rosa campus. We continue to have many friends and family back in Fresno but are starting to get to know people here at our church and workplaces. My hobbies are reading, home improvement projects and gardening. Our family also enjoys hiking/walking and camping in this beautiful area.

I am a fraternal twin, but also have 2 more sisters and 2 brothers, no one has the same parents and we are spread among a lot of families.I love being out doors. I mainly use the computer to edit videos and browse the web, but in terms of web designing, I have very little experience. I've used pre-made templates (Wordpress and Squarespace) to create my company website. So, I've never really made any site from scratch until this last summer quarter/semester at the SRJC.

Personal Story
I graduated in 2011 with a BS in Journalism from Cal Poly SLO. I'm a local videographer for Red Rascal Films, filming and producing company and sports promo videos and wedding highlight videos. I'm also an ambassador to an outdoor brand called Moja Gear, and I love to rock climb. I've been climbing for 7 years and really enjoy the mental and physical challenge. My husband and I try to get out as much as possible to enjoy the outdoors with our group of friends, so the next couple of months will be me doing homework from the road. I'm really looking forward to this class and seeing my fellow classmates' creativity.

I started out using the Windows operating system but found I had so many problems with viruses and mechanical issues that I needed to buy a new computer pretty much every two years. After three or four replacement computers I decided to switch to the Mac operating system. I love Mac! I had my old Mac for ten years and just bought a new one a couple of years ago. The only disadvantage I have seen with Apple products is that they do not offer any transitional software to their new applications so if you want to update you really need to buy a new computer.

Personal Story
I am a mom of eight children and a grandma to three boys and one girl. Besides raising my kids I have owned several home businesses and have volunteered extensively in serving my community here in Santa Rosa. I am currently a volunteer chaplain at Sutter Hospital and before that I was a volunteer chaplain with Sonoma Co. Law Enforcement. I enjoy writing which I do on some level pretty much every day. I am a student of history, science, politics and religion. I am a born again Christian and rely on Jesus Christ as the only hope of my salvation. I read extensively on many subjects but my favorite thing to read and study is the bible. I am an amature film maker. I took Media 20 last Spring and enjoyed it immensely! I have written several screenplays and also helped to put together other short films working in small groups. I love the energy involved with the process and I think this is where I want to ultimately turn my talents to in multimedia.

Educational Goals:
I am a returning student who is interested in the field of web development. I would like to increase my skill set and learn more about the fascinating world of the internet. I have a couple ideas for webpages I would like to create. Including my own custom webpages, word press, and others!

Computer experience -
I grew up in the 1990's and early 2000's so Computers have had a place in my life for as long as I can remember. I have taken a couple computer classes during my educational years including computer imaging, C++, and web development 1. I use computers everyday in my full time job and am comfortable in most aspects.

Personal Story
I grew up in Rohnert Park, Califorina. I am an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America which means I love being outside and enjoying the wonderful area where I grew up. I worked as a lifeguard for the City of Rohnert Park for years until I left the City to attend college at Humboldt State University. I majored in Environmental Science at HSU and returned to the Northern Bay area where I currently work as a City Planner for the City of Novato. I have always been interested in development and I am hoping by learning these skills I can find some ways to supplement my income and get creative.

Educational Goals:
I am enrolled to complete the web programming certificate. After completing my bachelors degree in Political Science, I realized jobs don't grow on trees and I need more practical tools to succeed. I have always enjoyed working with computers and my step-father, who does graphic design and web programming, suggested I take some computer science classes. So here I am.

Computer experience -
I grew up in a computer science lab in Davis, CA. My experience with them, however, was limited to web surfing, computer games, and homework assignments until college. After that, I started to learn basic HTML and CSS.

Personal Story
I'm not really sure what to say about my friends and family. Though I am a crazy cat lady, so I could go on for hours about my cats if you're interested.

I am taking classes at SRJC to help maintain and update our web site for our business. I took classes when Dreamweaver was all the rage but now things seem to be all about WordPress.

Personal Story
My husband and I live in Ukiah and we have 3 kids. Our last one is heading back to his junior year of college at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon. Our oldest daughter just had her 2nd daughter and our middle son is living in SR and has a great job he really enjoys. We all got together this weekend before our youngest left for college. Lots of fun! My hobbies are woodworking, sewing and enjoying the peace and quiet in the house. :)

My family members are very humble and well welcoming, we enjoy spending time together and having fun and gather the family for parties. we also have family friends, we are very out going and always help each other out on our goals and other stuff. my hobbies are exercising and going out with friends, i also love going to school alot, im not sure why but i think its an addiction now. i want to get the best out of it and be very knowledgable and my preferred skills. And my interests are all my hobbies and just spending time with my family and friends

Educational Goals:
I am the teacher for the class so I get to have the most fun!! My goal for this semester is to get to know each of you and share my love of Web design and development.

Computer experience -
I started with an Apple IIE in the early 80s. Once I startedusing the Mac I was seriously hooked. I use an iMac in my office and have G4s at home. I have been teaching in the Computer and Imformation Sciences department since 1994. Prior to that time I also taught computer classes at Montgomery High School.

Personal Story
My grandparents were immigrants from Portugal, my mother did not speak English as a child and did not graduate from high school. I wanted a different life so I attended Humbold State for a BA and then San Francisco State for a Masters. I was the first person in my family to graduate from college.I have the best teaching job in the county. It is a privilege to work at SRJC.
