PROBLEMS WITH MY PORTFOLIO PAGES. Bootstrap issues with CSS color & Nav bar- I followed the videos precisely in creating a my-portfolio.css and modifying the CSS for the colors, jumbotron and nav bar. However, it's not showing the my-portfolio modifications. I checked the CSS reference link to my-portfolio that I added to Index and About. It is exactly as you listed, but it's not showing my changes. I then tested with a CSS code for h2 to change the color, and it doesn't seem to be working. I don't know how else to troubleshoot this. I am wondering if it has anything to do with the Bootstrap download differences I've identified.

As with a few others, I am getting a forbidden error when I try to view my files, so I couldn't view and test the links on the server. Hopefully this will magically be resolved by the time you come to grade the homework.
**********Apologies in advance for complaining - I recognize that a lot of work has gone into setting up this class and the instructor seems kind and caring ***********
This online class is difficult to navigate. It is very confusing and (unnecessarily) time consuming to have to hop back and forth between the class website and the DVD, which is effectively a second, slightly different version of the class website. Could the class not simply be located on one website, with one set of instructions to follow?
Also, it would make it easier for myself and other chronic procrastinators to succeed in this class if the assignments were shorter and due weekly rather than bi-weekly. This structure helped me to get an A in CS50A, but I am not sure I will be able to keep that trend going in this class.
Thank you for listening :-)

I wasn't able to view my own page, I tried creating a public_html folder and placing the files in there but I keep getting a 403 forbidden error. The same error occurred when I attempted to view other submissions.

1. In the CD the movies won't open from the lesson pages, ( it's an old laptop) so it is necessary for me to go into the movies section of the CD and search for the appropriate video. Since the videos are filed alphabetically by name, it is a challenge to determine which movie goes with each page in the lesson. Is there any way for each lesson page to display the name of the movie under the icon?
2. When Bootstrap downloaded it included several files that were not in the snapshots of the file structure. These were left in the folders, because I don't know if they are necessary. The assets css folder includes two map files, the fonts folder includes a wolf2 file, and the js folder includes a npm.js file.

While it seems like a great way to get up and running on a website real fast, it seems that in the long run, it's a lot more work to create a website from a template like this. From my experience anyway, I have done a lot better designing my own templates. While the initial creation time is a bit longer, it's a lot easier to come back to the website and edit later if I know it like the back of my hand instead of having to always run through the code inspector to find exactly what is targeting what and where different styles are coming from and then have to work around the presets.

I have always stumbled a little bit through the lessons, but there is no greater feeling than stumbling for a while and then actually getting it. I usually have to revise my pages 10-30 times before I can get it just the way I want it, but it's all worth it in the end.

This class is extremely difficult for a beginner, and especially difficult if it is not in-class. If we are expected to create websites, it would be much more efficient to have a knowledgeable instructor to answer questions, rather than the back and forth back and forth, even though you as an instructor are so helpful. This is very complicated with lots of moving parts and if one part is missing or misunderstood, the whole process stops, so I think the online instruction for this course is very very difficult for the inexperienced student. Luckily I have someone to go to here for questions, but I feel very sorry for beginning students, as they will become discouraged and there is lost revenue for the school and the instructor. Very short-sighted of the Dean of the department.

Oh boy,
The first assignment in this class was a dozy. Pretty chaotic getting all of my class materials, finding a computer with DVD player and then sitting down to work it all out. I still have to go back and add some creativity to my assignments but I am just glad I got the FTP software working and my homework page uploaded. It was pretty crazy switching from the DVD menu to the class webpage and the assignment page to get all of the information necessary to work on the assignment. But it all worked out.
I learned some very interesting things about CSS already so I am very excited to continue now that the initial hurdle of getting everything set up is over.
Thank you!

When I used the Jumbotron theme, it was a little different from yours. Everyone else seemed to have that theme come with the links already in the navbar, but I had to manually add that and other divs with specific classes that hold those links into the index and about me pages. So I might be missing something. Hopefully, it doesn't affect my future assignments.
