Examples of Classmate critiques

Here is the work of our Web Graphics class - Enjoy!

Critique 1 fromMatthew Poirier sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I think this is the wrong assignment page to turn in, I think it should be for the last few assignments like the navigation/photos assignments so that's what I'm commenting on. lol. Kjell Petersen: Fantastic job on the sites, you've got an eye for style, that is obvious. The only thing I can really comment on for improvements would be fine details regarding the code for your drop down/pop out menus. On my browser your menus seem to be a few pixels off from the parent link, making it hard to keep the pop out windows open. Other than that awesome job! I really like what you did with the photos on the main pages, they're tastefull and dont distract from the overall look of the page. Great job! -- Matthew Poirier

Critique 1 fromPeter Wilson sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Overall I think your Client 1 is very well done. I really like how you labeled the divs on your second level design. I think that would help me a lot when I design. After looking through the design with fresh eyes I had a hard time locating the nav bar on the left side of the page. It would help if you added another nav bar to the bottom of the page. The users eye would at least start at the bottom and they will see the navigation. Great job on the redesign.

Critique 2 from Peter Wilson sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Another great job on the second level redesign. I really like how you used white space to separate different areas of the page. This really helps the eye see the sections that you are loading with content.

Critique 1 fromKjell Petersen sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I think the strength's of this web page is the colors all blend nice together. There are some nice eye catching graphics that add a lot to the design and overall appeal of the page. I also like the nice gradient in the back ground. Nice work

Critique 2 from Kjell Petersen sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Great looking site. I like the logo redesign they make the page look very nice and the colors all work well together.

Critique 1 fromBill Olson sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I liked the overall design with its color scheme of light blues and greens. I particularly like the main image of the road as it created a sense of depth and was nicely enhanced with effects. The other images all too seemed to be logical choices with their theme. My only suggestion is that the right side seems a bit "heavy" as the left has allot less going on and is a little broken up as compared to the other.

Critique 2 from Bill Olson sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - As with client one I like the overall design and find the color scheme with its various shades of brown to be visually appealing. The various elements of the page are laid out in an interesting way that is exciting to the eye. I like the gradation of the navigation bar in the way it fades into the picture. My only suggestion is that the lower navigation bar is a bit overwhelming when compared to the elements above it, perhaps a little lightening or a little less height with it.

Critique 1 fromMaggie Gallotti sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I really like the image in the center of this page. It's really well-done. I liked the colors a lot;everything blends together well. The menu items cut into the center a little bit, so they could have been made a little shorter. But, I really like it. Did you modify the center image to look like a painting or was it that way originally?

Critique 2 from Maggie Gallotti sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I really liked this page too. The index page is well done, I especially like the wine and bottle images. How did you do those? I liked the second page, but thought the white print was hard to look at. Overall, I think the colors and images are great.

Critique 1 fromSarah Booth sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Seeing that this is the classmate critique from the A class I'm assuming that were mean't to critique Client 3 since we already fill this out last class. I think this person did a very good job on their Client 3 since. I like the structure and color scheme. The neutrals with just a splash of orange I thought looked nice. The text is easy to read and I like the word wrap around the image. The links in the nav bar didn't work so I didn't get a chance to look around more but over all I think they did a very nice job.

Critique 2 from Sarah Booth sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Since I didn't have a second client assignment to critique I decided to critique the logo assignment. I thought they did a great job. They were very creative and had a great use of of color and contrasts. The only negative critique I had was to maybe sharpen up the image within the third logo listed on the resize assignment page.

Critique 1 fromTina Mourad sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I like Bill Olson's client 1, the colors are warm and go well together. I love the logo, very bold and crisp and has an "edge" to it. This reminds of a site that could belong to a sports-related category. Suggestions for improvement are not having a top margin and having the menu items change on hover. I like the whole overall look. There are no second level pages.

Critique 2 from Tina Mourad sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - For client 2, i like the logo here too, although more brightness to it would make it more readable. My other suggestions for improvement would be to make the site a little less bulky, using different style fonts, more variety in the color scheme (too brown). There are no second level pages.

Critique 1 fromJames Anderson sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Critic of Sarah Booth's Client 3-Lake Recreation. I think this page looks very clean, uncluttered and easy on the eye. Color choice is good and works well with the monotone photo of the water skier. The logo design is very nice and I particularly like the way the way the wave leads your eye from Lake to Recreation. The only suggestions I have would be to tighten up the text under the photo in the left column and the text in the right column seems a little overwhelming. Perhaps just bolding the heading and making the main content normal. Overall I think the page works well.

Critique 2 from James Anderson sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Critic of Sarah Booth's Client 2-Cotati Animal Hospital. First of all – I'm a total sucker for anything that has pictures of animals. Not sure if the pictures were from the original template or not, but they are a great choice. Nice choice of color, very soothing and warm. I really like the logo design. The font is a little formal yet the paw prints gives it a fun aspect. I think the secondary pages work well. Again I love the puppy and kitten photos. My suggestions are pretty much about the home page. The spacing between lines should be a bit tighter and the text next to the "Our Mission" is over-powering. Maybe make it normal as opposed to bold. The content layout is a bit all over the page. I think it might be a little easier to read if things lined up a bit more like a grid. But overall I think the page works.

Critique 1 fromMark Alarie sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I looked at James Anderson's Client 1 page. The Images and Color seem well-chosen for the web page about glass. The beige background colors combine to show off the colorful glass images. Interesting images, too. I would suggest something different for the left side menu. It seems OK but the green color is perhaps to close to the beiges in my eye. Same suggestion for the links at the bottom. They don't stand out enough to me. An interesting page to browse.

Critique 2 from Mark Alarie sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I liked the look of this one this one. I noticed it seemed to take a few seconds to load...large images, perhaps? I think it is good to see what a page is about before we even begin to read. The background and other images help with that. Too bad we weren't creating real websites because I would like to see where the links would go. The left side menu looks kind of cool with the transparency but perhaps it could be a bit more readable, darker text? Nice job.

Critique 1 fromJanice Krunic sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - client1/nav/index.htm I chose this site because I like the overall design and the images selected. My only suggestion is to make the nav menu more readable. White text against a light green makes it too difficult to see.

Critique 2 from Janice Krunic sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - client2/nav/indexLOGO.htm Again I chose this site because I like the simplicity of the design and the images. The colors are well chosen and blend pleasing to the eye. I find this site well done and have no suggested improvements.

Critique 1 fromNassu Born sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - This site is not flashy. It gives the idea that things are pretty predictable. The images show the quality of the houses and that the builders work with the client. It's clearly stated the kind of work they do and have an established work record. I would have like to see some more color and and an interior shot of one of the houses in the background.

Critique 2 from Nassu Born sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I like the header. It has depth and motion. The figure of the person states victory. The logo is very modern and identifiable. I like the colors of the navigation and it just makes the site that much more interesting. Although the popouts need some work.

Critique 1 fromClaudia Handley sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - The use of color is great for this site. The drop down menu looks a little cut off by the graphic and should probably overlay or perhaps been smaller or moved over. Overall a very good job with the layout.

Critique 2 from Claudia Handley sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I liked this site and the pop out menu looks very nice. The color are peaceful and calming. All images work well with the theme of the site.

Critique 1 fromPat Delaplane sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - The person beneath me is not taking the class so I have looked at the next one down. The site labeled client 1 doesnt have any of its images in the images and color assignment. The images are nice and colorful and appropriate. The lavender and green is a nice combination. The soft transparent characteristic is pleasing. Some of the title of the site is covered up by the main part of the page so it looks like the bottom part of the letters are missing. The pop-out of the vertical menu is placed OK but 2 pop out levels appear when you mouse over the main menu. The whole left column shifts when you mouse over the menu. I saw that the site is not yet finished but since this review needs to be completed today I have to get it done.

Critique 2 from Pat Delaplane sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I guess this site isnt finished yet. The second level menu part of the horizontal menu does not line up with the item above it. The third level page menu also does not line up and the width of the menus are not consistent. The soft tan, brown gray colors are nice and relaxing. The links to the second level pages dont work so I am not able to discuss them. I find the black text on the dark gray background difficult to read and there is something down at the bottom that looks like it could be text but is not distinguishable. I think the mottling background of the main part of the site is very pretty. When this site is finished I am sure it will be very nice.

Critique 1 fromDeb Rourke sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - ALARIE woodwork & website. Mark designed a really nice site for a woodworker. Excellent font choice for your header, it matches the "arts & crafts" style. It is laid out well and has a good open relaxed feel that matches the reclining chairs. The earth tone color palette reinforces the outdoor feel and is a great choice. Tab navigation is clear, easy to locate & read and uses an earthy red contrasting color on the rollovers. The phone number needs a little more contrast - it's fading into the background a little. I'm a bit confused by the far right column, is it supposed to be down that far on the page or just to the right of the chairs? Great job!

Critique 2 from Deb Rourke sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Spice Grills Steakhouse. James did a really good job designing this site, it does look like a website for a steakhouse. Nice choice of colors, they work really well together and work with the color photo of the food. Navigation is easy to read both in the header and footer sections. Good logo choice for a restaurant - again it works well with the food. The paragraphs of text are really clear on the white background and spaced well, for easy reading. The only thing I could point out that might need change is to use a slightly bolder font on the "experience the power" text, overlaying the steak photo. It might give it a little more contrast and emphasis the tag line referring to seasoning. Otherwise, awesome job!

comments - great blend of colors! I like the use of the different font sizes, content and space was arraged well the only thing i would suggest is adding content to the left column as it is prim real eastate!

Critique 2 from Rose Carlson sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - i really like the use of images ties site together!site looks profesional and clean! I am not sure about the text breaking away from the content area though.

Critique 1 fromChristy Molnar sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - The use of gray scale images create contrast with the brightly colored logo. I'm not sure where the navigation colors are picked up from and the headline orange color is not used anywhere else. I'd like to see the color scheme tie in more. The second level is layed out well, but I'd like to see a different color in the bar, something the matches the color scheme.

Critique 2 from Christy Molnar sec# 1387 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I like the bright color scheme and the font used for the logo. The drop down menu is a little hard to read over the background image. I see glyphs that don't make sense, there are question marks in diamonds. Overall nice job.

Critique 1 fromSarah Booth sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I think this student did an overall good job on their Client 1 site redesign. The color scheme flows well together, nice lavenders and blues. The photos are nice, but the theme of the site wasn't obvious to me right away, It may just be a personal preference, but I just think the pictures should tell the story of the site right away. Also it would be good to enlarge the logo of the page. I like the placement of the text and the background image. The text could have been shrunken and center within the bordered image to the bottom left. And lastly the second level pages were formed well, the text is easy to read and placement was done very nicely.

Critique 2 from Sarah Booth sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I know this store :D ! This site is very nice, the colors are great and I love the placement of everything. The logo size and placement is perfect, very easy to read. The menu is in a good place, I would suggest though maybe enlarging the text a bit. The photos read well on what the site's about. The second level pages are also nicely done, easy to navigate and understand. Overall I think this site was very well done.

Critique 1 fromMatthew Poirier sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - review of: http://student.santarosa.edu/~dtarca/webdesign/samples/a5_client1_index.html Strengths: easy to read uncluttered easy to find header and title images related to website content suggestions for improvement: Change to a softer menu (nav bar) color. Move lady's head shot slightly to the right so it's not covered by menu (nav bar). Darker title in header would be a bit easier to pick out of the image (readability). Set right margin of text in the main body so it lines up with the top image or maybe a bit further inside that top image. Overall a really nice design. Very nice job!

Critique 2 from Matthew Poirier sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - review of: http://student.santarosa.edu/~dtarca/webdesign/design135/indexredolesson7.html Strengths: Uncluttered easy to read font family and size images are clear and easy to see at small-medium size header and title are bold and easy to read Suggestions for Improvement: Background and font colors seem to be too light/muted, increasing the saturation of color would help make the site "pop". Menu (nav bar) background color is a bit rich and could be lightened a little bit (high contrast, against the light background). Make the top of the menu (nav bar) line up with the other bodies of text/images (so all three are equal). Second level pages have black text which could be changed for a relative color from one of the images. Line spacing or organization of the second level text would improve the readability of those pages. ***** Overall very nice and well thought out website plan. The softer tones gave the website a warm and welcoming feeling. It wasn't cluttered with too much information or images. Very nice job, your strengths (in my opinion) cover the most important parts of the website. The parts you could improve on are less critical and could be done easily without a complete make-over. Great job!

Critique 1 fromPeter Wilson sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Debb Womack's psd redesign of Client 1 did not show up for some reason, but the actual redesign did. It looks pretty good and I really like the color palette that she chose for the design. The design stays fairly consistent throughout the interior pages, but lacks the centering code for the second and third page. Also, the third page has a weird width property going on that is making it span the width of the entire screen. These are some major inconsistencies that need to be fixed before presenting them to a client. Overall needs a lot of work.

Critique 2 from Peter Wilson sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Debb's client #2 redesign is a major improvement over her first project. She clearly defines the layout in her photoshop version and does a great job of emulating that exact layout with HTML and CSS code. The site and its interior pages are vibrant and full of images which helps the reader understand what the site is all about. There are some things that I would suggest changing before making this site live. The navigation needs a little work. There is no clear definition to an active link and one that is being hovered over. I would at least put a hover color to change the text a little. The footer on some the pages is not aligned right and that just messes up the consistency of the website. Overall a great job on the redesign.

Critique 1 fromDarren Dub sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - The overall look of the site is clean and appealing. The color scheme is well executed. The placement of the A5 header and footer images seems somewhat arbitrary. If the kitchen image and the header image aligned on the left, that would be an improvement. Also, maybe if the navigation menu was directly under the header image, it would tie the image with the rest of the page. Using the script typeface for the introduction subhead is a little weak. Since you’re using fonts that are uncommon, the end user will receive different results. I think using a stronger or larger type would help. I think main thing that needs improvement is making sure the placement of text and images is more meaningful, because many of the objects on the index page and second level pages are floating on the page. Sorry if I can be a little critical, you did a great job.

Critique 2 from Darren Dub sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - The color scheme is great on this page as well. Having a black background makes the photos really pop and is a good idea for a photography website. The layout of the page is well organized. The A5 logo and “Call A5 Photo…” line are a little out of place. The category search and keyword search should be aligned with each-other somehow. The images you chose for the site work well and are nicely cropped. It might be interesting to see what the images look like with a white border around. But it looks fine the way it is.

Critique 1 fromDebb Womack sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I feel the layout on the home page is stunning-it showcases a good eye for color. Also, the contrast between the different images creates both cohesion and tension. The scale is excellent and shows an intuitive (or learned) understanding of design and balance.I always look at other student's work and I must admit, this was my favorite website from the 121 Design Template.

Critique 2 from Debb Womack sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - How thrilling and privileged to be able to critique a website about building furniture from wood and building websites. I usually approach building a website like doing a painting- but my own love of wood and it's crafting does not seem so far afield from building a website. Although "busy" websites can reflect good design, I think choosing a clean simple design can speak volumes.(I refer to my own simple designs as "coffee table websites.")Kudos to Mark for picking a template that reflects the ability to convey-"I can build a beautiful clean piece of furniture or a beautiful clean website."The understated use of two thumbnails in the gallery quietly reinforces this skill set. Finally, I would like to mention that I don't ordinarily condone the use of tinted colors with pigmented colors. I believe it works here because all the colors are found in the large image. Also, the simplicity of the design allows for multiple fonts to be used to create interest. Well done Mark.

Critique 1 fromTina Mourad sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - This critique is for Bill Olson. First, I need to say I am unfortunately forced to use IE instead of Mozilla to view the pages , which I know may look very different than intended as shown on Mozilla. I checked out your Jpeg image which looks great, but unfortunately doesn't look that way in IE. Client 1 strengths are: Color theme used. I liked the brown and pale blue colors. The centering is also nice. I also like the boldness and size of the logo A5 design. It really grabs your attention. Improvement suggestions: using a dark color for "interior design" instead of white on a pale background. Also I see a "gap" between the menu bar and the background image of the girl. Another improvement might be the color of the text. I thought it was a little too light especially with the strong bold brown theme color and the bold logo.

Critique 2 from Tina Mourad sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Strengths: Nice background picture and blending with background color. I checked out your Jpeg redesign which is really very nice. Again IE doesn't do it justice. Improvement suggestions: I could barely read the pale text in the right box. Also the box that contains the menu bar was a bit too wide and too high I think cutting off the background image. It wasn't blending / transparency effect as shown in the Jpeg. nice work!

comments - The colors of the redesign are very pleasing and the images work well with idea of web architecture and give the idea of the connectedness of the web. I like the font's used for the logo it seems to have lots of energy that radiates.

Critique 2 from Nassu Born sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Again the design work is very clean and balance. I like the balance between the white and black. The images really give the feeling that being connected is what you want to do and having this designer will give you the effect that you want

Critique 1 fromMark Alarie sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I had to skip down a couple people to find active links for the redesigns. I looked at here at Megan's redesign of #121. I like the changes. The images are colorful, interesting and appropriate. Even with the nonsense text we all used, it still had a message. The menu on the left side has a good choice of colors. One thought. did you try flipping the bird's photo so the big beak points towards the text instead of the menu? I don't know if it would be better, but that beak sure directs the user's eye. Nice work.

Critique 2 from Mark Alarie sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I had a look at Megan Bennet's redesign of #137. The first thing that caught my eye was the color scheme, green and maroon. there are several shades of green. I think they work pretty well together. The green background of the logo JDS creating custom guitars seems a little off compared to the other shades, though. The maroon (or red) colors seems to pick up some shades from the large guitar photo and contrasts nicely. It looks like the logo is in the upper right of the design and it doesn't seem to catch my eye as much as I would expect. The 'guitars and more' graphic is appropriate but if it were faded out a bit more, the text behind might be more readable? I like the overall layout. My eye follows it easily. The menu at the top has an image appear when hovering. That helps the navigation. I think it could be adjusted bit so it doesn't cover the menu text. Overall nice job, Megan

Critique 1 fromMegan Bennett sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I really like the color theme for this page, nice bold oranges, and yellows along with blacks, creates good contrast, without being too much. I think the images were also well chosen. On the second level pages a lighter color was chosen for the content background, which I think was a good choice, it goes well with the rest of the coloration, without being too bold which could easily result in content being hard to read. One suggestion would be to center the site, and also to make the body background color something other than white. However I didn't center my client1 either, so I can't really complain.

Critique 2 from Megan Bennett sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Overall I think that this student did a good job. They decided to use a lot of yellow in their site, which goes well with the light bluish green for some of the text, and the green in the right image. This color scheme does work pretty well. I think the site could have benefited from a bit more contrast, especially I think that it would have been good to make the "our mission" text a little darker so it could stand out better from the background. I can't comment on the second level pages yet, because they still aren't up, but the main page looks good.

Critique 1 fromBill Olson sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - My overall impression is positive and I the first thing I noticed and really like is the montage of graphics on the index page, very nicely balanced in color and content. As I do like the header background the actual text seems a little plain with all the grate images around the page and think the same of the simpler text navigation. Also seeming a bit out t place in its stark contrast was the tag line under the header. Those suggestions are certainly my own personal opinion but as I said, overall I like the site and the way it was laid out quite well. Nice job, keep up the good work.

Critique 2 from Bill Olson sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - My overall impression is very positive of this site as its content is nicely laid out and is easy to follow. The color scheme really works with its muted earth tones I found it to be a nice compliment to the actual porcelain products. My only suggestion would be on the menu-item-3 page, to possibly run the far right column all the way down the same way it is on the other pages, just for consistency. Also I do like the angles and designs through out but think the graphics could be a little more dynamic and less jaggy. All in all those are personal tastes and think the site to look very nice.

Critique 1 fromKelly Laird sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I really like the pictures chosen for the header and upper right corner. I also like that the colors in the left column blend well with each other. The only thing I would suggest is that the colors in the left column be a little bit more vibrant to match colors in the header better.

Critique 2 from Kelly Laird sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I like the color combination, the contrast between the blue and orange is nice. I also like the background image and the pictures chosen for the right column. The only thing that I would suggest is to make the background color in the header all one color so it flows better, right now the eye goes straight to the word "travel" instead of reading left to right.

Critique 1 fromClaudia Handley sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Overall, the color and the header images work. The center image with the bright light on the left is a bit distracting. A center image with a more define subject on the left may have been better. I love the blue and the lavender all around the design. It is very elegant and charming. The second level pages also work well.

Critique 2 from Claudia Handley sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - The overall placement of all the images and colors work very well. The colors in the image on the top right header, doesn't seem to go with the rest of the colors in the design. I would have tone down the blue and red colors. I really like the different colors in the word save. This web page is very eye-catching, bright and appealing. I was not able to view the second level pages.

Critique 1 fromChristy Molnar sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I like the clean design of Tina's Client 1 web page. The graphic used in the head is very colorful and eye catching against the white background. I like the black and white transparent image in the background. I would have like to see the link color darker to standout from the background more.

comments - The first thing I notice was how colorful the site is. I don't think the blue in the background of the sunflower goes well with the overall color scheme. The links at the bottom of the page are large and distracting. I like the image in the head of the page.

Critique 1 fromLena Orlando sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I like the colors that K. Petersen chose. I like the layout. The green text is a little hard to read. I probably would have put a border around it, otherwise I think the site works well and the colors and theme work well from page to page.

Critique 2 from Lena Orlando sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I really like the the website for client 2. K. Petersen did a great job with color, placement, text and everything else. All of the pages work well together. There is nothing about this site that I would change. I think it is beautiful.

Critique 1 fromRose Carlson sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - The first thing i noticed was the good choice in the main background image, i like the texture. I like the colors choosen and the images blend well with the content. The only thing i would suggest is maybe shortening the width on the second level text, it seems to stretch to far.

Critique 2 from Rose Carlson sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - The main page seems a bit busy, but has alot of content. I like the rock image behinde the search options. nice job with creating the links with rock images but there is some text content trying to show thru on the main page. The second level pages look nice and well organized.

Critique 1 fromJan Krunic sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Client 1- I like the simplicity of the layout and design. My only preference in viewing this web page is to see a little more color incorporated. jan krunic

Critique 2 from Jan Krunic sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Client 2- I really like your design and format. My only suggestion would be to use one of your shades of blue for the hover state on the left column and bottom menus and the copyright text. Overall, I like the design and structure of your web page. I think you did a great job. jan krunic

Critique 1 fromDebbie Tarca sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I like the clean crisp look of this site. Its simple in the way that everything looks organized on the page. I like the white font against the blue background and the large background picture behind the content. The orange font gives a bit of color to the page picking up the color in the yacht photo. The redesign is great. Maybe the only change I'd have made would be to have made the active & hover links different colors. Great job!

Critique 2 from Debbie Tarca sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Again for many of the same reasons I like this redesign due to the simpicity of the colors and the layout of the design. The colors are soothing and harmonious with one another. I like the different fonts. Their styles work well with the site. The only thing I might have done differently would be with the menu buttons. I might have made blocks with different rollover/active/hover/link instead of the arrow and color change. I think though that its a great site as is. Great job!

Critique 1 fromKjell Petersen sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I think the strengths in this design are the good use of colors, they are nice and soft and light but not to light, the colors also match colors in the images which is nice. The images used were great especially the chair image is great for the country living theme. A couple of suggestions i would have is the background menu color is a little off from the rest of the colors that are so nice, it just seems like the wrong color. Also the white text in the header is a little hard to read. Overall it looks really nice. Excellent job.

Critique 2 from Kjell Petersen sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - I thought there was a lot of strengths to this site. I thought the images used were very appropriate and tied in nicely with the colors used. The background image is nice since the opacity was lowered and the text colors show up nicely over it. The important information is displayed nicely in area's that are easily seen. A couple of suggestions i think could be considered is that not all the colors used in this page blend well together. The background color, header color, and menu color don't work to well together. Also the original design had three layers of background colors, it would have improved the overall look of the redesign if this part of the design was used. Overall the site is nice but i think if it had stayed closer to the original design it could have turned out better.

Critique 1 fromMaggie Gallotti sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - client #1: I liked the blues and greens together. I like the bits showing up behind the images behind the menu and in the main body. However, it's difficult to see the text when it's in front of the lighter part of the globe. The white behind the menu made my eye go towards it. The last line of the copyright information falls outside the white background, making it seem a little off. Menu items 2 and 3 have a nice background and the text is dark. I can read it easily. I think the darker background should extend to where there is text. The colors are pretty.

Critique 2 from Maggie Gallotti sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Client #2 I really like the apricot, yellow and green colors. It is a very pretty web page. Without looking at the title "Atlantis Art Gallery", I would guess that it is about art. I think that's important. Menu item 2 has a picture of the water and the sun through the clouds, which is nice because it picks up the colors of the shell and the right-hand column. It might need some kind of footer at the bottom or more text. I like the background color. Menu item #3 doesn't have much there. It might be too early.

Critique 1 fromJoseph Cefaratti sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - The redesign that Darren Dub did to 121 interior design site was really great on many levels. Darren chosen colors for the site makes a very easy tone for your eyes to enjoy looking at. The effects on the logo works great and fits nicely on top of the home page. The strengths of Darren's design really comes from the effects to the photos, the color scheme used and the use of different kinds of fonts. I really enjoyed seeing the new and improved design that Darren accomplished. Overall, Darren you did an awesome job on this design and I see no improvements needed. Keep up the great work!

comments - The redesign that James Dunn has done to 126 interior design site looks and feels great. James chosen colors for this design is simple and suits the content of this site nicely. The orange color chosen for the content works well against the black background which makes it easy to read. The photos are set in good positions with the content which fits the home page great. The strengths of James redesign comes from the colors chosen for the layout which are the black, white,Grey and orange. Also, The content of the photos fits the web site perfectly. Overall James you did a fantastic job on this design, the only improvement I can see is one or two photos seem to be a little out of focus but that's it! Keep up the great work!

Critique 1 fromJames D sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Tracy Frank's redesign of the 121 interior design site showed good use of colors with a pleasing earthy green and orange that worked well together. Colors tied well to photographs. I liked the choices of colors and photos. The central photo was changed to a basket or bottle made apparently of straw. The middle photo is partially ghosted at the edges. It looked good although the edges could have been faded out to white for better coordination with the rest of the site, in my opinion. The image behind the "Call for free estimate" text was brighter, which drew the eye there, a call to action. On hover, the green menu changes to salmon. The word "interior" at the top of the page is too high to work in conjunction with the word "design," so it looks like "Interior a5 design. Could be readjusted to fix this. Good second-level page fadeout of center photograph, also good sidebar with green background. (I reviewed Client 2 homework for Maggie Gallotti, the next student down on the roster, because Tracy Frank's Client 2 homework was not linked as of late Sunday, 10/11/09.)

Critique 2 from James D sec# 1386 for sharing their crititque of a classmate's site.
comments - Maggie Gallotti's redesign of design 157 exhibited good use of subtle browns and sepia tones. I liked the choices of font colors, with reversed type for the nav menu. I also liked the old horse buggy photo behind the logo, as well as the saddle and horse profile. The rake image, though, I found too mundane, even if horse people scoop up manure with it. The sale items were interesting, though too small to read easily. The background for the center horizontal section seemed blurry and might have been better if it were identifiable. This might be dirt in fuzzy focus, as far as I could tell. Overall, the site feels pleasing to the eye.
