La Joya

Wes wanted to go visit relatives in Socorro and on the way down we stopped in La Joya to visit the spot where Lou's grandfather was burried.  This was also near where Wes remembers the Fiesta de La Joya.  The family would come down for a deep pit barbeque and dancing.

Mom also showed us the home of her Aunt Nancy.  The door was open and we carefully made our way through the three rooms.  As she did she told us stories of the home.  The same stories she was told when she was young.  The home still belongs to a cousin.  He come to the home a couple times a year to work on renovations.  This home is very near her grandfather's home, which is still livable and owned by another cousin.

We also had time to stop in Alamillo, a town where both Mom and Buddy were born.  Although the home is no longer standing she showed us and told us about the area.
