Cinnabar & Carved Wood

A Note about cinnabar:
Real cinnabar is poisonous (mercury ore). It was used up through the 19th century to cure hats and its poisonous effects resulted in the term "mad hatter". Modern cinnabar is carved lacquered wood. All the beads presented here are carved lacquered wood from China, stained to match the color of the mineral cinnabar.

I am currently sold out of the carved flat disks and am looking for new sources - so stay tuned.
