April 2004 NCNCA Meeting report

Here is an unofficial report about what happened at the NCNCA meeting last night.

Due to so changes in the UCI calendar the U.S. Cross nationals now conflicts with one of the World Cup Cross events. This will cause a conflict for some of the top US Cross racers. USAC is looking into possibly moving the date of the Cross nationals. The problem is that moving nationals later will likely mean a better chance of really bad weather and moving the Cross nationals earlier will cause problems for several big US Cross events. There are two UCI calendar events scheduled for Nor Cal this year and 1 for northern NV as well as additional international events in UT, WA and OR.

We are up to 477 newsletter subscriptions. This is up 20 from last month. We now have 71 NCNCA member clubs up from 67 last month and 57 officials.

The NCNCA web page is experiencing about twice the usage we had last year at this time. We may have to move to a new hosting company since we are bumping up against out monthly data transfer limit ( 6 Gigs). We are exploring options for getting more data transfer for the same cost we are presently paying. A couple of companies have expressed interest in getting involved with the NCNCA web page ( advertising on the page). To date we have avoided doing Ads on the web page but it might be time to change this policy.

Officials need to inform NCNCA when equipment is damaged at a race. Recently one of the video cameras was knocked over and damaged. It looks like this camera will have to be sent in for repairs.

The Presidio Crit will be postponed until Sept. and will be the same weekend as Mt. Tam. Tam will move to Sept. 18th and Presidio will be the 19th.

The 02 and 03 BAR winner jerseys should be produced in July and be distributed to the winners shortly there after.
