June 2004 NCNCA meeting report

As always this is an unofficial report about what happened at the July NCNCA meeting.

The number of USCF licensed riders is up 7% over the same time last year. We currently have 2847 riders in the NCNCA territory. This is 190 riders more than what we had last year at this time. We currently have more licensed riders than at any point last year.

Casey has been typing up results to submit to the USCF national ranking program. He has typed up 26 races worth of results in the past couple of weeks. Promoters need to do a better job of posting results quickly, getting results more accurate ( lots of mistakes in rider names in many results). Promoters are suppose to submit their own results to the USCF national ranking program.

We are looking good on our budget for the year. We have exceeded the revenue projections for NCNCA surcharges already. with the next l check from USAC we will within $1,000 of the projected revenue from license rebates. We are a little under projected revenue from newsletter subscriptions. Overall we should have met our total projected revenue by the end of the month. This means NCNCA will have some extra money we didn't expect to have this year.

There was discussion about putting races on the NCNCA calendar/website next year. Should races by non-NCNCA members go on the calendar? Maybe charge non-member promoters a fee for getting on the calendar/website? Possibly bring back the performance bond requirement. Promoters would have to put up a fee up front to get on the calendar. If the race happens and results are submitted the promoter gets their performance bond back. If the race is cancelled or results aren't submitted the performance bond is kept by NCNCA. Maybe have a smaller bond requirement for established races that have a good history of happening? The topic will be further discussed at the next meeting.

There is support to move the NCNCA list. Now we just need to find a place to move it to.

A promoters clinic has been tentatively scheduled for Nov 21. We are looking for a meeting room in the area.

There have been problems with registration at many races. Cat 1/2 riders with expired licenses getting into races on 1 day licenses, This is also a problem in some Cat 3 races. since the entry rules can be confusing for volunteers working the Reg. tables Chief Refs should consider hiring an additional official who will primarily help out at the Reg table to deal with 1 day licenses and license questions.

An officials clinic has been scheduled for the weekend of Sept 25/26. Robert Leibold will conduct the clinic.

NCNCA will start to gather information on EMT services that promoters can use to line up medical support for their event.

NCNCA wants to develop a pamphlet that can be handed out at races, events and bike shops to people who might be interested in getting into racing. Casey will work to develop an outline of what we are looking for by the Aug meeting. NCNCA will then put out a call for designs from people interested in designing the pamphlet. NCNCA will pay $500 for the final design of the pamphlet we like best.
