Here is an unofficial report about the June NCNCA meeting.
The first draft of the 2004 Cross calendar was presented. It looks like there will not be a Surf City series this coming year but the Central Coast series will be back.
As of 6/11 USCF membership in the region is 2830. We are closing in on the 2856 mark which was our highest membership count last year.
Newsletter subscriptions have leveled off at 422. Velo Promo may make a proposal later in the year to take over the Newsletter. If accepted the NCNCA would not have to fund the Newsletter in the future and Velo Promo would take over the financial responsibility for the Newsletter. This would free up some NCNCA funds for other uses.
We have 72 NCNCA member clubs.
We should have the 2002, 2003 BAR winner jerseys by the end of the month. THe desire is to do an awards presentation at the Giro this year for the 2002, and 2003 BAR winners. The 2004 BAR winner jerseys might be presented at an early season 2005 race that normally draws a large turnout.
More discussion about NCNCA possibly buying a finish line system like FinishLynx. Texas has recently bought this same system and we will stay in contact to find out how the system works for them. No final decision until the Oct NCNCA meeting when most member clubs will be present for the race scheduling meeting. Another option might be to find some investors to buy the system and offer it to promoters as an extra fee service. If there is enough interest from promoters this might be the way to go. There sounds like there might be a couple of people interested in investing with the idea of making a return on their investment down the line.
This will be the last year that Lesley Jensen will be running the Junior Points Series. Lesley has run the program for 5 years. For next year we will need someone else to step forward to run the program. If no one steps forward to take over this program then the Junior Points Series will no happen next year. This is a good opportunity for people who talk about supporting junior racing to support junior racing.
Revenue from USCF license rebates appears to be going as projected for the 2004 budget. NCNCA race surcharge income is higher than anticipated. NCNCA may have some extra revenue by the end of the year.
