The FAIT CyberNose

The FAIT CyberNose was a direct outgrowth from a research paper published in MIT Press' PRESENCE journal (Vol. 1, #2, Spring 1992), "A Nose Gesture Interface Device: Extending Virtual Realities", in which various rhino-virtual realitiy options were explored.

Although the paper touched briefly on the use of smells in VR, FAIT researchers felt that not enough emphasis was placed upon a serious implementation of this concept. After much subsequent independent research, FAIT has arrived at a true solution to proper olfactory interfacing for virtual worlds: The FAIT CyberNose.

Implementing Flaxon's revolutionary Scent-Emitting Transduction Technology , the CyberNose mimics environmental and industrial scents, utilizing FAIT 's proprietary ".WIF" file format.
