2001 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay (Russian River Valley)
For our 2001 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay, we blended grapes from three of
our favorite vineyards: Mill Station, Morelli Lane and Rued. The Mill
Station grapes give the wine its lively citrus brightness and acid backbone.
Morelli Lane contributes notes of stone fruit and pear. And Rued provides
its exotic tropical and mineral overtones along with an extra bit of thickness
on the palate. The resulting wine is our vision of a classic Russian River
Valley Chardonnay--fruit intensity, great acid structure and richness
even after full barrel and malolactic fermentation. Released August 2003.

2000 Rued Vineyard Chardonnay (Green Valley-Russian River Valley)
The Rued Vineyard Chardonnay deserves showcasing and we are proud to
be the ones to toot its horn. The response to our initial 1999 vintage
was tremendous. This vineyard produces fruit that has been recognized
for its exotic qualities and exceptional richness by those lucky enough
to make wine from it. Dan's wife, Loie, assures us she will personally
drink every unsold bottle herself. Rated 90 by Wine Enthusiast
and Best White - January 2003 Decanter Magazine.

2000 Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir (Green Valley-Russian River Valley)
The 2000 vintage will go down as an exceptional Pinot Noir year in the
Russian River Valley. Our 2000 Dutton Ranch is certainly a nice example
of the impressive quality of the vintage. This wine displays the classic
blackberry, cherry and spice associated with western Sonoma County Pinot
Noir, along with an elegance we like to think of as the D-G style. Our
2000 is made from a blend of Dutton Ranch Pinot Noir vineyards, including
some that are now coming into maturation as well as some older vineyards.
The four Green Valley-appellation vineyards that contributed fruit to
this vineyard blend were Green Valley, Jewell, Morelli Lane and Widdoes.
Rated 90 by Wine & Spirits and Top Pinot by The
Wall Street Journal.

2000 Maurice Galante Vineyard Pinot Noir (Green Valley-Russian River
Valley)
Another new source for us, this vineyard is an archetype for what we
desire from western Russian River Valley/Green Valley. It's located on
the east-facing slope that forms the western edge of the Russian River
Valley. With a tiny 1-ton per acre yield in 2000, the vineyard delivered
ripe, concentrated fruit with great acid and tannin balance. The Dijon
667, 777 and 115 clones (along with a bit of Pommard) that the vineyard
is planted to contribute to the wine with intense blackberry fruit and
super lush, juicy tannins even in its youthful state. Rated 91 by
Wine & Spirits and 5 stars by Quarterly Review
of Wines.

2000 Devil's Gulch Ranch Pinot Noir (Marin County)
Yes, we did mean to say Marin County. We're thrilled to add this wine
from the a beautiful vineyard in Nicasio to our line-up. Mark Pasternak,
one of Marin County's viticultural pioneers, has been ranching and farming
in western Marin County since the 1970s. Devil's Gulch Ranch vineyard,
just off Point Reyes National Seashore, is a steep, terraced, winding
hillside planted to our favorite Dijon clones of Pinot Noir. This debut
release is unique with brightness, spice and elegance rare in California
Pinots.

2000 Freestone Hill Vineyard Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)
The hallmark of Freestone Hill Pinot Noir is spice. The wine shows dense
cranberry and boysenberry fruit and rich tannins as well, but this tremendously
cold spot on the western edge of the Russian River Valley seems to emphasize
the natural clove and allspice aromas of Pinot Noir. The vineyard is located
on a south-facing hillside overlooking the town of Freestone in the southwest
corner of the Russian River Valley.

2000 Cherry Ridge Vineyard Syrah (Russian River Valley)
We're proud to introduce Dutton-Goldfield's first Syrah to you! Cherry
Ridge Vineyard is situated on the east-facing slope that forms the western
edge of the Green Valley. The proverbial "warm spot in a cold area",
Cherry Ridge is just temperate enough to ripen Syrah in a region best
known for the cold-loving Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The wine takes on
a brightness, acid balance and spice that focus the inherent thickness
and depth of this wonderfully versatile varietal. Deep purple in the glass,
the Syrah jumps out with dark fruits and candied spice aromas, and follows
with sweet berries, nutmeg and cedar to work with its sensuously silky
mouthfeel.

2001 Morelli Lane Vineyard Zinfandel (Green Valley-Russian River Valley)
Located east of the small Russian River Valley town of Occidental, the
Morelli Lane Vineyard is truly remarkable. This more than 100-year old
dry-farmed and head trained 1.5-acre vineyard is all that's left of what
was once a much larger vineyard. Our 2001 vintage offering displays a
level of silkiness and elegance rare to Zinfandel, while still bursting
with crystalline fruit so centrl to the varietal's charm. Bright raspberry,
blackberry and caramel on the nose give way to enticingly fine grain tannins
and creamy bright raspberry on the palate.
