1: DELINQUENT DAD |
 |
My parents arrive at the hospital in a stolen car. I
am born and transported
to the next destination in a shoebox. Dads life
prior to my arrival: his
shotgun wedding, his wild affair with Margie, and his
life of crime.
Finally, his stay at Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary, and
his spiritual growth
while incarcerated. |

CHAPTER
2: COMMUNAL LIFE |
 |
Grandma shares her psychic dreams. Our family and friends
drive from New
York to California in a frankfurter truck (and an ambulance)
to live in a
vegan commune. My parents are searching for spiritual
growth, and optimum
healthful living. We discover a militant Vegan, a live-in
Hindu Monk, Yoga
and color therapy. Color therapy heals my father after
a near death auto
accident with the Monk at the wheel. We abandon all traditional
forms of
medicine. I have my first astral travel experiences. We
return to New York. |
|
CHAPTER
3: CARETAKERS AND GYPSIES |
 |
Dad relocates the family to Florida to be caretakers
of 32 acres for an
eccentric millionaire. Then like gypsies, we take off
in a pickup to Mexico.
We all barely survive amoebic dysentery, and flee from
Mexico. Back to New
York for the birth of my brother with Dad as the doctor.
With no home to
return to, the family splits up and I live with Grandpa
Diamondstone, veteran
of the Jewish Mafia. He was President of the Poultry Union
until District
Attorney Thomas Dewey sent him to Sing-Sing Prison. |
|
CHAPTER
4: FLUSHING FLOWER CHILD |
 |
We meet my brother "Oscar the Fetus," who
is preserved in alcohol and pops up
in the most unusual places. I discover I come from a long
line of Russian
witches. My parents and my two younger brothers set off
to a primitive
tropical island near the coast of Honduras, in search
of a Utopian way of
living. On my own at 12, I discover the Fillmore East,
sex, drugs, a
mobster, a psychiatrist, an addict and the concert at
Woodstock. My
infectious laughter becomes my signature. |
|
CHAPTER
5: SOMEBODY'S DAUGHTER |
 |
I fall in love with Ricky, the boy next door. At 15
I drop out of school
and, with the FBI on our trail for draft evasion, Ricky
and I go off to hide
in California. We attempt to get welfare disguised as
Tommy Gunn and Little
Flower. We meet all sorts of characters from the 1969
hippie and mind
expansion movements. At 16, I learn remote diagnosis and
healing techniques
in a program called Mind Dynamics. Instructor Werner Erhard
selects me to
give psychic demonstrations for audiences in hotels. I
volunteer and do
healing of sick people in distant locations. Unexpectedly,
at 17, I learn
the true identities of my mother and sister. After finding
out about my
family and what really happened surrounding my birth,
I go back to New York
for one of my only meetings with my mother. |
|
CHAPTER
6: SO WHO'S THE GROOM? |
 |
Back in California, I break into the men's world of produce
and, at 18 years
old, open a fruit stand. I take a train trip to Mexico
and have a
frightening visit to a Mexican jail. I prepare to get
married but I have two
proposals and I am not sure whom I should marry. There
is a whirlwind
wedding, a honeymoon at the Plaza Hotel in New York and
the meeting of two
opposite families. A rags to riches theme.

 |
I open a catering business. Larry Hagman, Dr. Helen
Caldicott, and Julio
Gallo love my chocolate truffles. My marriage has problems.
I attend cooking
school in Hong Kong and then travel to China, Japan, and
Malaysia
spontaneously. Every day is filled with precognitive dreams.
I pray in
temples all over Hong Kong as I intuitively realize that
Ricky had just died
of AIDS. |
|
CHAPTER
9: SPIRITUAL RETREATS |
 |
I am attending a variety of spiritual retreats and meditations,
led by Ram
Dass, Sogyal Rimpoche, Ondrea and Stephen Levine. The
focus is on spiritual
caregiving, compassion, death and dying. I go to these
powerful places and
powerful things happen to me. I encounter spontaneous
channeling during a
Kundalini Experience. |
|
CHAPTER
10: THE HUICHOL TELEPHONE SYSTEM |
 |
I have a dream that inspires me to go off to a Temple
in Taos New Mexico.
There I meet Miguel, a handsome Huichol Indian. We walk
with burros for 16
hours to visit his family in a remote area of the Sierra
Madre Occidental
Mountains in Mexico. My heart opens as I spend time grinding
corn with
Miguels family. I am accepted amongst these people
that still live much as
they did in pre-Colombian times. We communicate through
telepathy and
dreams. I eat the sacred dried blood of the deer. The
Huichole shaman tells
me there is something white in my pelvic area that must
be removed. |
|
CHAPTER
11: SHAMAN-HEALER |
 |
A biopsy confirms I have cervical cancer. I set out
to heal myself in Hawaii,
attending an eight-day Vipassna silent meditation retreat
with Joseph
Goldstein. Deep body work and intense cleansing with fasts,
homeopathic
remedies and colonics. I return to Mexico and participate
in the Peyote
Ceremony with my Huichol Indian friends. Huichol Shamans
do healings on my
cancer. When the tumor is surgically removed, the doctor
expresses surprise
that it has become encapsulated in tissue and does not
threaten my other
organs. |
|
CHAPTER
12: BIRTH, DEATH, AND REBIRTH |
 |
My marriage is ending. After thirteen years without
conceiving, cancer
doctors tell me I will have no more children. I take a
trip to the
Philippines to meet my new boyfriend's family, and I return
pregnant. My son
Richard is born at home. My mother makes one final scene
before exiting the
earthly plane. The experience nearly kills me. |
|
CHAPTER
13: TRAVELS WITH MY DAD |
 |
The obstacles, triumphs, and hysterically funny moments
as my Dad and I cross
the border to deliver a truckload of food and clothing
to the Huichol Indians
in the mountains of Mexico. We go through "Checkpoint
Charlie" and are
interrogated by the governor of the Huichol community. |
|

14: LOVE FINDS ME |
 |
A romantic time unfolds as an old classmate from junior
high, David Levitt,
calls me after 23 years. We meet again and soon its
clear were in love
an infectious love that inspires others. After giving
up on marriage, I end
up married again. David, a scientist and entrepreneur,
introduces me to a new
world of Silicon Valley researchers and mind scientists

Timothy Leary. Our daughter Tasha is born in water in
our bathtub. David

is welcomed by the
Huichols. I tell my cousin she is my sister--after 25
years of secrecy. |
|
CHAPTER
15: PSYCHIC AUNTIE GAIL |
 |
With help from my niece, I make an inventory of the
extraordinary psychic
experiences that earned me the nickname Psychic Auntie
Gail. I participate
in experiments at Interval Research with Russell Targ
and Dean Radin on
Remote Viewing describing photographs that I will
be shown thirty minutes
later. I describe what it is like to be psychically connected
to someone
when they are having a near death experience. I attend
the Remote Viewing
Conference and The Prophets Conference, and have a heart
opening experience
in the Mayan Temples in the Yucatan. I answer questions
on e-mail and meet
gifted psychic pen pals. I grow to realize I am part of
a community trying to
understand these things. I finally feel supported in these
psychic
experiences and at last at ease with who I am. |
