Cards came in either "hobby" or "retail" packs (a hobby box is pictured above). The difference is apparently that hobby packs could contain Concert Gear cards (containing a piece of clothing worn by a Beach Boy) or Concert Gear Buttons (same concept), while retail packs could contain guitar pick cards. Either kind could contain autographed cards. A hobby box contained a full set of base cards, two Concert Gear cards and some of the inserts.

The "surfer foil stamp" cards simply have a small surfer stamped in gold foil in one corner. They are otherwise identical to the other cards.

Some packs come with a thick piece of blank cardboard, reportedly to prevent people from fingering packs to find the thicker insert cards.

There has been some question as to how many Signatures cards there are. One fan reports that Mrs. David Marks says that her husband signed at least 70 cards.
