The town and Countship of Boulogne lies within the Artois region on the Channel coast about fifteen miles west of Calais. It was apparently held by Duc Philippe I of Bourgogne who was all of nine years old and already married in 1358. He was also count of Artois, Auvergne, Auxonne, and Chalon-sur-Saone.

The town and Countship of Bethune is found in middle of Artois, halfway between Agincourt and the Belgium border, about one hundred miles almost due north of Paris. The fictional count, Robert of Bethune, is the oldest knight in my army, since he was the first one I painted. He makes a cameo appearance in Chapter 4 - Order of Battle in the Chronicles of Pepin le Bref.

The town and Castellany of Lens is found ten miles to the southwest of Bethune. I included it so that I could have a “crash test dummy” knight.

The town and Countship of St. Pol is located about fifteen miles southwest of Bethune and ninety miles due north of Paris, and was held by the house of Luxemburg.
