I attend St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, California. I like it because of the diversity of the people, the liturgies, the beautiful stained glass, the community.

Being Catholic isn't always easy, and sometimes the institution makes me mad, but I'd never leave. I love the richness of it too much. I could never meet my spiritual needs elsewhere and I love too many people here.

I'm on the RCIA (Roman Catholics in Agony) team (nah, just kidding, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) and have been helping my friend Ann for 5 years now. (I actually took a break after adopting the girls, but am back on track now.) I finally became legit and earned my Basic Catechist certificate and my Master Catechist certification. If you do RCIA, I'd love to hear from you.

In October of 1999, I made my Cursillo. It is a weekend retreat designed to bring you closer in your relationship to God. Have you made one?

The Church would be betraying its own love of God
and faithfulness to the Gospel if it were to stop being the
voice of those who have no voice, the defender of the rights
of the poor...
This requires of the Church a greater insertion into the life
of the poor with whom the Church should place itself in
solidarity even to the point of accepting their risks
and their destiny.
(Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador)
