Background
I was born November 4, 1963 in San Francisco, California. I have lived in northern California my entire life and I love it immensly. Right now I live and work in beautiful Sonoma County, California.
My grandmother hails from Lerdo, Durango, Mexico but was raised in El Paso, Texas. They came to the USA during the Mexican Revolution. She went to San Francisco in 1937, the same year the Golden Gate Bridge opened. My mom was born there in 1943. My grandfather was from Lugo, Galicia, Spain and left there in 1920. He worked as a merchant marine for many years and then on the Standard Oil ships. He died at home in 1984 after a long illness.
Education and career
I graduated from San Francisco State University in 1989 with a BA in Liberal Studies. I received a Bilingual Teaching Credential from Sonoma State University in 1991. I am currently a teacher at a Spanish immersion school. I taught 3rd grade for eight years and now teach English language arts and US history in 8th grade, which I really like.
Home life
I recently took on the challenge of bringing two foster kids, Cindy and Mindy, into my home. I've known these girls (who have three older siblings) for almost four years. While it has been demanding and brought about quite a change in my life, I think I'm a much richer person for it.
I have a dog, a cats and two parakeets.
My grandmother Lupe also lives with us.
During my free time (what free time?) I like to play on the computer, read, walk the dog, talk on the phone and eat, not necesarily in that order. Another (weakening) obsession is comic books.
Travel
I have a direct link to travel in Mexico, but I went to Europe in the summer of 1998 and would like to share my adventures with you all.
