Dear Friend of the Ukrainian Diabetes Project,

It has been a very eventful year for UDP and we would like to take just a few minutes out of your day to report this year’s activities and accomplishments, which have resulted from your invaluable support. It is with great satisfaction that we continued to expand our diabetes programs.

We are happy to say that through our persistent hard work with the Diabetes Charity Fund of Kiyiv, we will ship blood glucose meters and strips for 100 children in December 2006. In addition and for the second year, the UDP will ship diabetes supplies to 50 children in Donetsk as we continue to work with their local diabetes chapter. The Diabetes Charity Fund and the Donetsk diabetes chapter will distribute these supplies during the upcoming year. As you know, due to governmental restraints the diabetes camp in Kiyiv was not active this summer. However, they will apply for camp next summer in hopes of returning to normal operations.

UDP has identified two potential physician candidates to participate in a mobile diabetes clinic collaborative with the doctors in Kiyiv. Kiyiv has successfully provided this type of service for the past 2 years, however, this year they have requested American diabetes specialist to join them. The collaborative will consist of two American physicians volunteering their time in Ukraine examining diabetes children in the nearby Kiyiv villages.

Santa Rosa West Rotary Club maintains an active role with UDP in its collaborative efforts with the Rotary Club in Kiyiv in hopes of eliciting local active support from the Kiyiv Rotary Club.

UDP continues to operate with a board of directors that meet regularly throughout the year. None of this would be possible without you and we want you to know just how much we appreciate your support for our effort. We hope and pray that we can continue to count on your support in this important effort to provide services to the diabetic children in Ukraine.
