JOURNAL day 1 (embarkation)

San Pedro HarborArrived at the San Pedro pier at 12:30 and even though the lines were long we were on the ship by 1:00pm. After a brief stop at our cabin it was off to explore the new ship. Being a first time cruiser, the ship, with all its decks and rooms, seemed a bit confusing but after a couple tours, and a pocket map, orienting ourselves was a bit easier.Trail The centralized Grand Atrium also helped navigation as it's from this point that one could see each of the corridors and the lighted signs marking each corridor. We made our way to the pool side grill for a hamburger then it was back to our cabin and our awaiting bags. We met my brother and his wife in their cabin and was off to the lifejacket muster. I just know if there was a real emergency, the scene wouldn't be anything like what the crew was explaining. Muster There was time enough for a beer, set up our shore excursions, gather up the kids, and head for dinner. Dinner was informal but the food was tasty. They served a special Easter dinner. The kids were more interested in hearing about the activities at Camp Carnival so from dinner we went to the Cole Porter Club and a briefing on the Camp Carnival activities. Ice Cream SocialThe meeting was more just an explaination of the operating hours and introduction of the staff. The meeting adjourned to the Jekyll & Hyde lounge and a kick-off dance party. A children's sundae social followed and our day was done. No one in our cabin needed the help of the rolling Pacific ocean to put us to sleep.
