Well, this is going to be the greatest of all '69 Reunions. See you all there. And for you Golfers, an extra treat, my company Pacific Bell donated some prizes for the participants. I'm really ready for the Harding Park now, I just hit a bucket of balls with my dads clubs, first time in over 20yrs I've touched a club. I should be awesome. So, is there going to be a reunion picture ala Stawberry Hill? See you all there. If your not golfing on friday, come that evening to the Lake Merced Boathouse for other festivities. Go Red & Blue!!!!!

San Fraqncisco, CA USA - Wednesday, November 03, 1999 at 12:31:01 (PST)
After getting a letter from Dennis Warde and a call from Tom Kearney, and then talking to John O'Connor, I knew I had to find a way to get out to this reunion. It may seem crazy to some people to make a long trip just to be in SF for about 15 hours, but they've never been to a Class of '69 reunion! So, does anybody want to crash the SH reunion with me? And you guys thought you had matured over the years...sure!

11/1 and counting... We're at 155 as of today. You guys are awesome. If you still haven't sent in your rsvp/check by now but want to come, please give Dick Dumont or me a call so we can add you to the roster and guarantee your menu item. Still can't decide? Then show up on Saturday night and we will STILL take you (just don't show up at the SH reunion at the Miyako). I can safely guarantee that you'll have a better time with us at the Crowne Plaza.

10/29 Update: looks like we're heading to +150 rsvp's. This is definitely NOT the reunion to miss! So fork up, or fork you! (28 for golf; that's a cut-off. No more - sorry.)

As of today, 10/26, we've got over 130 (and still counting) for the reunion. STILL NOT TOO LATE! Get that rsvp and check in the mail!

Well, it's nice to see that you have a classmate page here on the Web where us over-the-hill characters can schmooze a bit. Look forward to seeing you all Nov. 6th. Maybe I might have to consult my doctor, but, then again, he should be there--Dr. Frank Charlton. Anyway, it's good to see we have a common base with which to operate. Have been to the Koret center many, many times as a USF alumn. Nice place, but a tad bit on the expensive side. Anyway, I rate credit card calls for US West and GTE phones at the airports in the USA for a living right now. Just completed a high-visibility project--the GTE Rail Phone project for Amtrak/GTE. We are up and running right now as we speak. The Texas main office of my company, Affiliated Computer Services, Inc., has invited me for a full week down to their Dallas facility Oct. 29th-Nov. 5th. Two different management teams from GTE are awaiting to treat me to a few nice places. Not to mention my own department. I have a brother living in Dallas and some of his kids are doing a day with me as well during the week. So life in Texas will be busy, to say the least. Teresa, my wife of three years, is very eager to meet all of you--even though she comes from a Sacred Heart/Cathedral family. Don't worry, guys. I just cite the last part of the Bruce-Mahoney Trophy slogan to my SH in-laws--"Victory often comes to those who have lost." I love humility--especially when the opponents of Saint Ignatius are forced to practice that virtue. See you all Nov. 6th. Sincerely, Patrick P. Dempsey SI 1969 USF 1973 Masters - Washington State 1977 Member, Who's Who of Information Processing 1997-present

OK, gang. By now you should have received a hard-copy invitation to the 30th Reunion and Pre-reunion Golf Tournament. Didn't get it? NO EXCUSES! Download the invitation and RSVP form off the main website, print it out, and send it in! We need to know by October 8 who is coming, so get off that fence and commit (or risk a phone call from Gene Boscacci)! Truly, what makes these things enjoyable and memorable is not so much the venue (which we've made sure is hard-core San Francisco, pretty fantasic, and affordable), but the NUMBERS of classmates who attend. The more participation, the better. Because, after all, 30 years makes all the difference in perspective and some of the guys you wouldn't be seen dead with some time ago are looking pretty cool these days, along with some interesting stories. So come and check out how reality has shifted over time. You might just be surprised.

For those who would like to see the old 222 Stanyan Street site, and what has become of it. It is now the USF Koret Health and Recreation Center. I have arranged for our use over the reunion weekend (they have our class names list, so you and your family can use the facilities)for $5.00 /day and signing a waiver. There is a pool, courts, locker rooms, .... and lots more. There are some age/time limitations for some uses if you have kids, please check with them, or e-mail me with questions. Also on Saturday Nov 6th, before mass at St. Ignatius Church there is a FREE tour for anyone who wants to see the complex. REMEMBER the western view from Bill Love's Biology class? or Mr. Parker's Chemistry class, or the day the Sutro Museum burned down and we could see and smell the smoke in class? Bring the kids, spouse, or anyone you care to show, and show them where we misspent our youth. Remember "Farewell to Stanyan" the last performance ever given at St. Ignatius High School? I hope to see you all there, call or e-mail me if you have any questions. work (925) 823-4148 or home (415) 564-1300.

GOLF AGAIN, AGAIN (see BOTH messages below)
Also see main page for complete info!
10:00 a.m. probable start-time, due to the early setting sun at that time of the year (thanks, Father Spohn, for the enlightenment). Also Dick Dumont, who just exhibits a lot better common sense than me. We'll up the participants to 32 for now, as well, since this is going to be a fun, well-attended event. Harding looks like a good hit, too.

GOLF AGAIN (see message just below)
Harding is available - let's play there! At least let's make it a choice between Presidio @ $90 and Harding at $50 (includes green fee, cart, and prizes - sorry, no box lunch or range balls at Harding). Scratch Lincoln. Hey, screw the vote. We're playing at Harding! 11:00 a.m. start time. Details about signing up will be sent with Reunion Invitation sometime late August/early September. Up to 24 slots available, so get your reservations in early. (OK, OK - anyone who REALLY prefers to play Presidio better let me know pronto - I've got to sent one of these contracts back in a week or two...)

GOLF VOTE NEEDED!
We've got the Presidio Golf Course lined up for Friday, November 5: starting time @ 11:00 a.m. It costs $90, which includes green fee, range balls, cart, and a box lunch. Pretty good deal for this location, but still pretty pricey. SO...I'm going to check out Lincoln Park, which is less expensive. Still a nice course, shorter, and probably not in as good a shape as Presidio. You golfers who are interested please let me know your preference (email or via the guestpage). Thanks.

We are trying to schedule the golf tournament for late morning or early afternoon on Friday, November 5. As soon as we work out all of the details, we will post them here on the web page. Anyone with suggestions about golf courses should contact John O'Connor or Dick Dumont.

Does anybody know yet what time the golf will be on that Friday? Since I,m coming up from SD, I'd like to know if I can come up that morning & still make it to the course (whichever course that will be). I have to teach a seminar on Saturday & Sunday in Corte Madera, but I'll be there at the reunion on Saturday night.

san diego, ca USA - Friday, July 02, 1999 at 09:34:36 (PDT)
I'm all for the Friday "Return to Stanyan" event, and have discussed this with several of our cohorts. Mike Miller, Dan Lawson, Dave Devincenzi, Steve Laveroni and Leveroni, and a few others I saw at the SI commencement ceremony. (I'm the proud dad of a class of 99 grad)in fact this is my third daughter to graduate. So here are some Ideas for the committee: after golf or whatever, we can just settle in at the Koret Alumni room,[this has a view we may recall from not paying attention in Mr. Parkers Chem class, or several of our 2nd or 3rd floor classes.] for finger food/dinner and no host bar. This can be after some have used the facility for swimming, raquetball, tennis, basketball, or volleyball.OF COURSE ALL THE OLD FOGEYS WOULD HAVE TO SIGN A WAIVER, and promise not to get hurt. So, what is your pleasure, and I'll work to arrange more of the details. I have reserved the Koret Alumni room so far and discussed these other possibilities with them. The director may be able to assist us in scheduling the Golf at the Presidio Course or the other city courses if we wish. Call me if you have any questions. 415 564-1300 hm
Mike Taheny <mjtahen@msg.pacbell.com>
San Francisco, CC USA - Monday, June 07, 1999 at 19:56:39 (PDT)
One of Taheny's ideas was to possibly have several non-golf events offered for Friday (e.g., use the Koret Center on Stanyan for swimming, work-out, racquet ball, basketball in the old gym) or bowling or horseshoes or or pool or whatever at some other location(s). And then all gather together Friday evening for drinks and some light pre-reunion feast at the Koret or wherever? Of course, you non-duffers are most welcome stroll around the course (or just hang out in the bar!). Let "the committee" know your preferences via this Guestbook, email, or telepathy and we'll see what we can pull together.

USA - Saturday, June 05, 1999 at 16:03:01 (PDT)
You know, not all of us actually play golf. (It has something to do with bad hand-eye coordination and a disdain for wearing loud clothing.) Can we also participate somehow? I don't know much about golf course rules, but could some non-players walk along with the duffers, watch the proceedings, kibitz, imbibe, make rude noises, etc.? Or would we then become "caddies"?John

I'm in,,,,John, seems like you're the master planner/coordinater in this Gala...GREAT JOB !! This site is an excellent example of the talent, resourcefullnes and progressive (or is it retrogressive) thinking of the class of '69 (did I leave anyone out??)......just got wind of this but I'll contribute and help out..I'll see who I can dig up (not literally) and revive from the past to partake (although a few will only be able to be there in spirit (that's my religious upbringing speaking)). Thanks for suggesting the Commons as a fall-back position, Mike, but we've got the Miyako Hotel lined up as our own "last option" and want to check out a few other locations before finalizing the place and date. We will know this by next Wednesday, I promise, and arrange for all the necessary notification. But things are looking great: golf on Friday; Reunion on Saturday: drinks, hors d'ovres, and conversation; retiring to sit-down dinner including salad, rolls/butter, entre, desert, coffee/tea and some start-up wine; back-ground music and non-intrusive DJ for those who want to dance; some light entertainment; and maybe even a few surprises. In short, according to the preferences listed in this Guestbook, emails, and one-on-one conversations with classmates and in line with the budget limits stated. We'll need help with Committee participants to contact classmates, get the tourny going, decide on music and entertainment, determine surprise packages, etc....i.e., to fill out the details. So we hope we can count on all of you for your support. Thanks.

To John Val & Company...Great site--hope to borrow your format for the Class of 1970's upcoming 30-year reunion. I see you have no info on Bill Wilson, but his family still has the same address/phone # that he had listed in the '69 IGNATIAN, so you can check there on his whereabouts--Omaha, Nebraska, the last I heard. Best of luck on your event!

OK. Here is a Date September 11,1999 Saturday. This is the ONLY Saturday open at SI. (2001 37th Ave) until spring 2000. I have asked the alumni director Jim Decker to HOLD it for the class of '69. So we have an option of this event in this year. I suggest that, unless we have a better option, we go with this. And Start planning the event. ANY COMMENTS? You all should take advantage of Vallelunga's offer to post a current photo with the grad photo on the Class List (check it out!). I know you'll want to save mine as your PC's wallpaper! Hey, Martini never looked better (or is it the owl?)! If you're technically challenged (as was I), John is willing to scan a current photo if you enclose a stamped, self-addressed return envelope (email JV for details if you're interested).

Hold onto your shorts, Mike! Actually, things are happening. A lot of behind-the-scenes work is going on regarding date and site selection according to the parameters and preferences stated below. But it's no easy task to find budget-acceptable locales for September Saturday nights (convention time in SF), so we're considering pushing the date into October-November. Once we narrow down the options to what's do-able, we'll welcome any and all help to pull this thing together. You're absolutely right, though - we need to settle on a date so people can set their calendars. Stay tuned.

Just an errant thought here. I looked closely at my "Farewell to Stanyan Street" series and read again the signs posted on the wall of The Store. Do you realize we were actually threatened with suspension for carting off pop bottles? Imagine the ignomy of having your permanent record bear the stigma of being suspended from a college preparatory "for carrying a soda bottle away from the front of a store." The mind reels at the consequences. I'll bet THAT notation would keep you from getting a job with the law firm of Goniff, Catchum & Gotcha! Glad I always drank my Fanta orange soda on premises.

Latest ideas: 1) General concensus, to date, is to include wives/life partners/significant others/and current and/or old girlfriends. (I say, all comers welcome!) 2) Have some music, but keep it sedate and non-interruptive to conversation. 3) Still thinking of golf tournament on Friday, with dinner on Saturday night. 4) Venues under consideration: Olympic Club, Concordia Club, Gift Center, Officers' Club at Fort Mason, and various restaurants/hotels. This event will NOT be held at SI Commons, this year. 5) Budget: planning on keeping it around $60 - $65 range per person, including dinner, room, music, decor, and surprises. 6) Dates: Still September/October timeframe, depending on golf/reunion availability, but shooting for September 24-25...? SO - does that work for all? Keep those ideas coming via phone, email, or this guestbook. Thanks.

Is it possible that only ten of us have email addresses? Must be some glitch in the data-entry end of this reunion... Anyway, I too vote for an off-campus reunion. To be frank, I have no affinity for the "new" SI campus. I'd never even been in the Commons until our 25th Reunion. Felt like a stranger in a strange land. It was called "SI" but it sure didn't look (or smell) like Stanyan Street. Having no children, I never experienced even second-hand what attending the new school must be like. (Taheny, my hat's off to you. Three kids! Wow!) My idea of a successful reunion includes lots of food and good stories, kind of like one of those "gentlemen's club" soirees from the early 1900s. I'm envisioning white linen, cholesterol-soaring entrees, cigars, brandy, and cumberbunds around prosperous waistlines.
