I had never really brushed with poetry much until I took a Creative Writing class at my school. It wasn't a very good class, but it still helped me get into poetry. All but two of the poems in this phase were written in or for that class. These poems are all pretty much tests, to see what I could do with poetry.

High School Castes This is a slightly mocking poem I wrote because of all the segregation in our school by Grade and by House. I actually got to recite it in front of the whole school at an assembly.
Mistakes A loose collection of poetry that was almost one entire thing. In case you wonder why it doesn't sound like the rest of my poetry, it's because I wrote it a long time ago. Depressing.
Nature Haiku The people in my Creative Writing class were odd ducks. Perhaps that's why it was so fun. Our teacher told us to go outside and write Haiku about nature. This is what happened, instead.
Lobster Just a small poem from the point of view of a lobster. When people don't know the title, it's kind of amusing to see their expressions when they finally get what you're talking about.
Stirring This was a dream-like poem that I wrote at about 11:30 at night, in the dark. I couldn't even see my pencil, and when I looked at it in the morning, it was horribly messy. I decided to keep it that way, because it expressed the mood more. Depressing.
Ode to Autoflush A silly poem that I wrote on a sticky note and stuck in the High School Bathrooms when we got autoflush toilets installed.
The Winter Lows When our Creative Writing class was noisy one day, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pencil and went outside. It was freezing out there (it was December, I think), and I came out with this.
