The summer of fun is a series of events organized by young adults of the Catholic community at Stanford for Catholic young adults in the San Francisco bay area.

Join young adults from all over the Diocese as we gather to cheer the SJ Giants against the Bakersfield Blaze. Young Adults from the DSJ Softball League and various parish based YA groups will be in attendance. We'll explore the historic SF neighborhood in the oldest urban street fair in the country celebrating its 54th year. Come sample delicious food and see pizza tossing, street chalk art (Arte di Gesso) and the traditional Blessing of the Animals at the Shrine of St. Francis of Assisi. A Circle favorite returns! The Summer of Fun kicks off with a evening of board games at St. Albert the Great hall, 1095 Channing Avenue, Palo Alto, CA. We'll be playing from 7:30 pm to around 11 pm. Join us as we ride the Roaring Camp Railroads Beach Train from Felton through magnificent and aromatic Redwoods down to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. We'll eat lunch on the Boardwalk and enjoy the beach, pier, and warm sunshine!!Meet Saturday July 12th at 9am at the top of the Stanford Oval. We'll be back around 7pm.

Spend a Sunday in the East Bay first at brunch at an authentic Thai Temple. Then watch some beautifully crafted kites over the Bay. The day wraps up with dinner at local favorite, Vic's Chaat House. Meet Sunday July 27th at 9 am at the top of the Stanford Oval.Contact Paul, phartke@stanford.edu.
Join us for a day of great music and a wonderful liturgy at the Basilica in San Jose. We'll take in the 4:30PM Jazz Mass followed by dinner downtown and music at the various stages set up downtown. The Circle returns to Monterey for an exciting day of kayaking on Monterey Bay. We'll be renting kayaks and touring the scenic Monterey Bay. Rentals are $30 for single, double or triple kayaks. We need to get a head count for the kayak rentals. Please RSVP only if you intend to follow through with payment. Deadline for reservations is July 17. Come join us for a very special combined St. Dominic's YAG and The Young Adult Circle event. We will be spending the day together wine tasting in beautiful Sonoma county!
Here's the plan, a bus has been arranged to pick up in both the South Bay and San Francisco on Saturday morning (our expected pick up times will be 7:30AM Stanford 8:30AM St. Dominics. We will arrive in wine country by 10 am and have our first tasting, followed by a picnic lunch (BYOF -food), and then more wine tasting. Estimated drop off times will be 4:30PM St. Dominics and 5:30PM Stanford.
Here are the wineries we will be visiting:
- Highway 12 Winery We will taste wines here at this up and coming winery! Tasting fee: free
- Sonoma Valley Portworks (SVP) produces only the finest ports, grappa and after-dinner wines, including their famous chocolate port! Tasting fee: $5
- Nicholson Ranch Vineyards We will be doing a full tour (including the wine caves!) and tasting here. Tour and tasting fee: $15
The minimum price per person is $32 which covers transportation and miscellenous expenses. If you include tasting fees at all three places, the total cost would be $52. Additionally, you will need to bring your own lunch as we will be picnicking at the second winery.

Join us as we picnic in beautiful Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Please bring blankets and a food/drink item to share, as well some of your favorite poetry, or your own poetry. As we enjoy our food and drink in bucolic surroundings, we will share good poetry with each other. If you are from another country, I encourage you to share a poem or two with us in your native tongue. For those in the South Bay, we will meet at the top of the Stanford Oval at 11 am. For those in San Francisco, please meet us at the entrance to the Botanical Gardens (across from the Japanese Tea Gardens) at noon. Please RSVP to me at wildcatman1@earthlink.net.
