Statement:
I
call my website “Quiet Images”, because that is the
feeling they convey to me,
and hopefully to you. A characteristic common to my
photographs is
a sense of quietude. They don't shout; they
whisper.
I ’ve
always felt that it is somewhat ironic that
black-and-white photography
is called that, because to me the best part about it is
not the black or the white,
as important as they are; it is the silvery gray tones
in between.
Those are the tones I seek. Many of my photographs
are taken in soft,
often indirect light, where those tones reside.
As with, I believe,
most black-and-white photographers, I approach
photography with no preconceptions as to subject matter
or approach,
other than generally favoring soft light. I photograph
whatever moves me.
As my photographs
are subtle, spend some time with them.
I think you may be rewarded with some subtle surprises.
