JOURNAL day 6 (at sea & Grand Gala Buffet)
This was supposed to be our, "Fun Day at Cabo", but
because of high winds and dangerous seas the tenders were
unable to get in the water. The captain explained some
political problem they had with the company running the
tenders and said by the time they were ready to crane them
into the water it was too rough. Luckily, the announcement
was made the night before so we were able to sleep in.
We found a few empty lounge chairs and let the sun fight its
way through the chilly winds. The Carnival Capers said
there was a happy hour at the casino. The minimum bet at
most of the table games were $1 and not the usual $5. I
decided to give it a quick try but found no open spots at
the crap table (my favorite game). While waiting for an
opening I dropped a quick $20 in a slot machine with no
payback. A spot finally opened up. One luckily shooter
and an hour later I had doubled my money. I took the
extra hundred dollars and never went back.
Debbie was ready to get in from the sun so while
I offered to baby sit my brother's daughter, Stephani, while
she slept, Debbie went with the two of them to, "Love, Sex,
& Romance", a couples game show held in the Mikado. Debbie
said it was more entertainment than the talent show earlier
in the week.
Selections for dinner in the main dining room included
lobster tail, pork tenderloin chop, langostina appetizer, and
baked alaska for dessert. As we were finishing our dinner a group of waiters gathered. The head waiter arrived with a, "Happy Anniversary", cake for us. We were really surprised as our anniversary isn't until August! My brother, Russ, and his wife informed us that since everyone else around us were celebrating one thing or another, our table should too!
We enjoyed the after dinner show, "Spin", in the Mikado. The show
was based on music around the USA and was a little more mainstream.
We stopped for a brief time back to the Romeo & Juliet lounge for
some dancing before getting in line for the Grand Gala Buffet.
The displays were amazing! It was very creative how the fruits,
vegetables, or appetizer meats were carved and shaped into animals,
flowers, or characters. The buffet is centered by a 600 pound red
dragon ice sculpture. The attention to detail was well worth
staying up for but be ready to wait in line.
