Carey Lamprecht-various works 1995 to present

The formulation of style is an eclectic process. For Carey Lamprecht, the elements began early, due to a firm foundation in classical music and encouraged expression from a very young age. She began playing in symphonies on violin at the age of ten, and quickly progressing on a tour through Europe, Russia and the former Eastern Block with performing groups. While sketching and observing the cultural dynamics of these other cultures, a notable inner-concern for the human condition began to bloom. This was furthered when collegiate studies in anatomy and figurative drawing began at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, Ca.

The tempestuous nature of the range of human emotions became realized in the containment of the form, structure and unique qualities of the body. Carey Lamprecht left America to live briefly in Prague and Paris to seek a release of scholastic and expressive containments, to paint, to play music with gypsies, Scottish merrymakers, country blues lovers and improvise on life. She returned to study at the School of Art at the State University at Long Beach, with an emphasis in painting and sculpting from the figure. She finished her studies at San Francisco State University in Painting and Drawing, as an Honors Painting student.

As the study of the figure developed, the desire to work with people in need of services also increased. Through work with children and in many programs, the desire to convey these emotional dynamics began to connect being the message animating each human form. Carey took jobs dealing with victims of extreme child abuse, neglect, extreme disabilities, poverty, children of the State, and families suffering from AIDS. Many of the figures she painted depicted the struggle and beauty of the individuals she cared for and counseled. In 1998, she ventured to India to volunteer and work for social services organizations; teaching farmworkers' children, nursing, and working on health care renewal and reform in the war torn Kashmir region. The experiences of India and the trauma of human condition experienced sank keep in the motivation to speak through the sublimity of anatomy.

Carey continues to work painting, caring for troubled children, and playing her violin wildly. Please free to contact her and submit your thoughts and impressions:
