I start by taking a mic in the bass drum and a mic on the snare and using an XLR adaptor cable that takes two XLR mic cables and funnels them into one XLR cable and that (with a 1/4 adapter) goes into the Boomerang input and the output goes into a channel on my mixer. This way I get a complete snare and bass drum loop when I use the boomerang to make a drum loop. With the boomerang I can create loops and half time them or double time them, play them backwards and also stack overdubs infinitely (at least in theory) I also hook up another snare drum mic in it's own channel so that I can use it solely with the Kaoss pad efx unit if I want. I use the Kaoss pad mostly for the BPM delay channel on my snare, as well as sometimes with the boomerang repeater. I also use the Kaoss for it's sampling channels and some of the preset sounds in it. And lastly I have the Beta52 bass drum mic just to reinforce my bass drum sound when I'm situations when I'm not mic'd up. Dats it. |
