The 1996 California Zinfandel is a challenging and rewarding project at Cline. With the various vineyard blocks ripening at different times and the fruit pouring into the winery from across the state, the winery crew is forced to work around the clock, ensuring that all the fruit is carefully handled to craft a wine of such high quality. Not only is the Cal Zinfandel a delicious wine but a great value too--suggested retail across the U.S. is $10.00. Happy 4th - Red, White and Rose! Winemaker, Matt Cline's Summertime Favorite Wines the 1996 Cotes d' Oakley- Vin Gris and 1996 Cotes d' Oakley- Vin Blanc. The 1996 Vin Gris, a refreshing crisp and bold rose blended from select lots of dry-farmed Mourvedre and Carignane. This wine has been styled after the Rhone Valley's greatest roses, notably Tavel and Lirac. Packed with rich flavors of strawberry, cherry and Provencal herbs with a crisp dry finish is the perfect wine for a warm summer day. The Vin Blanc an adventurous dry, blended white table wine made from a multitude of different varietals, both classic and unusual in their origins. Included in this blend are the prominet white varietals on the Northern Rhone (Marsanne and Viognier), Bordeaux (Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon), Burgundy (Chardonnay), Spain (Palomino and Muscat Canelli), Italy (Malvasia Bianca) and the Loire Valley (Chenin Blanc). The Vin Blanc has aromas of melons, flowers and tropical fruit with flavors of lemon citrus and a wonderful mouthfeel. These two wines should not be passed up this summer. ENJOY!
