Rob Knop's Astronomy Education Page
- Talk Slides: Slides from talks
and presentations that I've given
- Classes: Web pages from classes I
taught back when I was a professor
- Astronomy Movies: 3d animations and other
movies I've made for use in classes and talks
- Expanding Universe Activity: An activity where you measure the expansion rate of a model Universe constructed from paper clips and elastic bands. I've used this in summer workshops with teachers, 5th graders, and in a college introductory astronomy class.
- Astronomy Applets: Astronomy-related JAVA applets I've created.
I give regular public outreach astronomy talks in the virtual world Second Life, as a part of the effort of MICA, the Meta-Institute of Computational Astronomy. A Second Life account is free; you can register by going to the SciLands Registration Portal. (MICA is a member of the SciLands, a group of science-related organizations that form a mini-continent in Second Life.)
For more information about the "Dr. Knop Talks Astronomy" talk series, see the MICA's "Popular Talks" page.
