JOURNAL day 4 Puerto Vallarta
We had an early departure time for our Beach Party
Tour so we ordered our breakfast to be delivered to the room.
I filled out the appropriate form the evening before and left
it hanging on the door. We woke up the next morning to four
times as much food as I had ordered. There was a spot on the
form asking how many people in the room so I put four. I guess
room service just multiplies what you order times the number of
people you put down. It was good my brother and his family
hadn't ordered yet as we had enough for all of us plus some
leftovers.
The ship was cleared and we were on the bus to our
beach party. The resort is very Americanized. I didn't see
any sign of Mexico in this place. I doubt if many Puerto
Vallarta residents have ever been here. The time was fun but
went too fast. We could afford to miss the first bus back
but not the second as we would have been on our own if we would
have missed it. Back at the ship, we dropped our beach stuff
off and caught the first taxi to downtown. We strolled the
Malecon, stopped at a beachside restaurant for a snack and
drink, and did a little bit of shopping. We still had a lot
of time left at port but we were tiring and decided to get
back to the ship for a rest. While the kids went swimming,
Debbie and I left the ship for a nice shady spot at the pier.
It was here that I realized the size of the ship. It's bigger
than any building in the area. It's amazing this thing can stay
upright, much less float! The kids met us back in the room then
we headed for the nearby flea market. We found the bargains to
be very good, especially if you were to buy something that other
vendors had. Debbie learned real quick about bartering when she
heard I was able to get a little marionette doll for $5 just after
she bought the same thing earlier for $10.
Dinner at Tiffany's topped off our full day and soon after waving the dockside audience good-bye, we were in our room for the night.
